Little Feat
Little Feat emerged from the pandemic with their humor, musical skills, and joy for playing intact. Over the last three years, they’ve centered their tours around their iconic live album Waiting for Columbus and the reissues of their second through fourth albums (Sailin’ Shoes, Dixie Chicken, and Feats Don’t Fail Me Now). The response from audiences has been overwhelmingly positive.
The band draws from a rich, 50-plus year legacy, blending top-tier musicianship with unique, memorable songwriting. Their sound, which crosses genres like California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, and rockabilly, mixed with New Orleans swamp boogie, has created a musical force that has kept fans moving for decades.
Hits like “Dixie Chicken,” “Spanish Moon,” “Fat Man in the Bathtub,” and “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” became infectious grooves that helped them push through the loss of their founder, Lowell George, and founding drummer, Richie Hayward. Today, they are as strong as ever with Scott Sharrard on lead vocals/guitar, Tony Leone on drums/vocals, and original member Bill Payne on keys/vocals, along with Fred Tackett on guitar/vocals, Kenny Gradney on bass, and Sam Clayton on percussion/vocals.
Now, they’re ready for something fresh. Their creative spark is reignited, and 2024 will bring the release of their new album Sam’s Place, where the band backs Sam Clayton, their beloved conga player, as the lead vocalist. The album includes a new track, “Milk Man,” written by Sam, Scott, and Fred, a live version of “Got My Mojo Working,” and a duet between Sam and Bonnie Raitt on Muddy Waters’ “Long Distance Call.”
Sam’s Place is a deeply fulfilling project for the band. Sam shared, “I’m very happy because I never expected something like this to happen. I’ve always wanted it, but I didn’t think it would actually come to life. It’s been a long wait, but it’s so satisfying.”
