The Silversun Pickups are an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2000. The band consists of Brian Aubert (vocals, guitar), Nikki Monninger (bass guitar, vocals), Christopher Guanlao (drums), and Joe Lester (keyboards, sound manipulation).The band's sound is often characterized by their dynamic guitar-driven melodies, layered with ethereal vocals and a blend of indie rock and shoegaze influences. They gained prominence in the mid-2000s with their debut EP "Pikul" (2005) and their full-length debut album "Carnavas" (2006), which featured hits like "Lazy Eye" and "Well Thought Out Twinkles."Following the success of "Carnavas," the Silversun Pickups released their second album "Swoon" in 2009, which included popular tracks such as "Panic Switch" and "Substitution." The album showcased their continued evolution in songwriting and sound exploration.In 2012, they released their third album "Neck of the Woods," featuring singles like "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)" and "The Pit," which further solidified their presence in the alternative rock scene.The band's fourth studio album, "Better Nature," was released in 2015, marking a return to a more guitar-driven sound with tracks such as "Nightlight" and "Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)."Throughout their career, the Silversun Pickups have been praised for their inventive approach to rock music, blending atmospheric textures with catchy hooks and introspective lyrics.
