Devils vs. Montreal Canadiens
Devils vs. Canadiens History
In 1997, the New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens met in the first round for their first and only playoff series. In Game 1, Hall of Fame legend Martin Brodeur became the fourth goaltender in NHL history to score a goal, marking only the second time that a goalie had scored a goal in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Devils would go on to win the series 4-1.
In more recent history, the Devils and Canadiens faced off in three games during the 2023-24 season, ending with a 2-1 season series win for the Devils. The Devils took one road and one home win on the season against the Habs.
The 2024-25 NHL season includes three matchups between the Devils and Canadiens, twice on the road and one at home. The Devils host the Canadiens on November 7. Hischier and team travel to Montreal on January 25 and February 8 to face the Canadiens on their home ice.
