New Jersey Devils
While the New York Islanders dominated the 1980's, winning four Metropolitan Division titles, the next two decades very much belonged to the New Jersey Devils, who claimed 9 between 1996-2010. Hall of Fame goaltender and current team Executive Vice President and Advisor of Hockey Operations Martin Brodeur was the only member of the roster for all 9 championships.
In the 2023-24 season the Devils and Islanders faced off in four games, with the Devils coming out on top in three. The Devils trailed 4-2 into the 3rd period of their November 28 matchup against the Islanders, only to come back and win by 1 with mere seconds left in the final period. The Devils dominated the Islanders again on March 24 in a shutout victory. Their final matchup of the season, as well as the Devils final game of the season on April 15 resulted in a 4-1 win for the Islanders.
The Devils and Islanders matchup in three games during the 2024-25 season. Their first face off of the season on October 25th is home at The Rock. The Devils travel to the Islanders for their game on November 9th. Their final matchup of the '24-25 season is on home ice for the Devils on April 13th.
