Her artistry has garnered significant acclaim, including two Grammy Awards, four CMA Awards, four #1 country singles, and five gold albums, along with a platinum Greatest Hits collection.
Her latest album, “Pretty Bird,” produced by her longtime friend and roots music wizard Tim O'Brien, showcases a diverse range of songs that reflect her renewed dedication to singing. After working with a vocal coach, Mattea emerged with this poignant and eclectic collection, demonstrating her ability to blend heartfelt storytelling with musical versatility.
Beyond creating and recording music, Kathy Mattea is actively involved in public broadcasting. She contributed to Ken Burns' 2019 documentary for PBS, “Country Music,” sharing her insights on the genre's rich history. Recently, she took over as the host of the long-running NPR show “Mountain Stage,” succeeding founder Larry Groce.
