    Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots (STP) is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California, in 1989. The band originally consisted of Scott Weiland (vocals), brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass, backing vocals), and Eric Kretz (drums). They rose to prominence in the 1990s as one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed rock bands of the decade.STP's debut album, "Core," was released in 1992 and featured hit singles like "Plush," "Creep," and "Sex Type Thing." The album received widespread acclaim for its hard-hitting grunge sound, catchy melodies, and Weiland's powerful vocals. "Core" established Stone Temple Pilots as one of the leading bands of the grunge movement alongside acts like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. The band followed up with several successful albums in the 1990s, including "Purple" (1994), which featured hits like "Interstate Love Song" and "Vasoline," and "Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop" (1996), which showcased a more experimental and psychedelic sound.Despite their success, STP faced internal struggles and substance abuse issues, particularly with Weiland, which led to periods of instability and lineup changes. Weiland left the band in 2002, and after a brief hiatus, Stone Temple Pilots continued with new vocalists, including Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Jeff Gutt. The band released several more albums over the years, including "Shangri-La Dee Da" (2001), "Stone Temple Pilots" (2010), and "Stone Temple Pilots" (2018). Despite the changes in lineup and musical direction, Stone Temple Pilots maintained a loyal fanbase and continued to tour extensively.Tragically, Scott Weiland passed away in 2015, but Stone Temple Pilots continue to honor his legacy through their music and live performances. With their distinct blend of hard rock, grunge, and alternative influences, Stone Temple Pilots remain one of the most influential and enduring bands in rock music.
