New Jersey is taking a significant step to ease the financial burden of rising energy costs this year. In response to record-high summer temperatures and sharply increasing electricity rates, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has approved a $100 credit for residents’ electricity bills.
This relief applies to customers of Atlantic City Electric, Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L), and PSE&G, ensuring that households across the state benefit. The $100 credit will be distributed in two installments, with $50 applied to September bills and $50 applied to October bills.
For residents in low-income households, the support goes even further. An additional $25 monthly credit will be added to their bills from now through February 2026, providing extended relief for families who may be most impacted by rising energy expenses.
The BPU emphasized that this initiative is part of the state’s ongoing commitment to protect consumers from energy cost spikes and provide tangible support to New Jersey residents during extreme weather conditions. With temperatures continuing to climb and energy demands remaining high, this measure will help many households manage their monthly budgets more effectively.
