Ocean Grove, NJ – The historic Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove recently resonated with the harmonious sounds of the 71st Annual Choir Festival, a cherished tradition presented by the Camp Meeting Association (CMA). Held on the evening of July 19, 2025, this year’s festival, themed “The Light of Life” and inspired by John 8:12, once again proved to be a profound experience of worship through music, drawing attendees from across the region to witness a truly magnificent performance.
From the moment the doors opened at 7 PM, an air of anticipation filled the grand hall. The festival, known for its ability to unite voices in a powerful display of faith and artistry, featured a colossal mass chorus, whose collective sound filled every corner of the iconic venue. Complementing the vocal power was a dynamic brass ensemble, adding layers of rich, resonant sound, and the majestic Hope-Jones/Shaw Organ, expertly played to uplift and inspire.

Under the masterful direction of Dr. Jason Tramm, the festival showcased ten compelling choral anthems. Each piece was carefully selected to align with the overarching theme, guiding the audience through a journey of spiritual reflection and joy. A highlight of the evening was the debut of a newly commissioned work, “We Are the Love We Long to See,” composed by the celebrated Mark A. Miller. This poignant piece, performed for the first time, added a contemporary and deeply moving dimension to the traditional program.
The festival also welcomed a lineup of distinguished guest conductors, each bringing their unique artistic vision to the program, contributing to the diverse and vibrant tapestry of the musical offerings. Dr. Gordon Turk, a name synonymous with organ mastery, delivered an unforgettable performance on the Great Auditorium’s renowned organ, showcasing its full sonic capabilities.
Beyond the breathtaking performances, the 71st Annual Choir Festival served as a reminder of the enduring power of community and shared experience through music. It was an evening where attendees could not only enjoy exceptional musical talent but also participate in a collective act of worship and appreciation for the arts. The event, supported by a free-will offering, continues to be a cornerstone of Ocean Grove’s cultural and spiritual calendar, enriching the lives of all who attend.
