Trailblazers of the Hoboken sound, The Bongos were at the forefront of the alt-rock explosion in the 1980s, fusing art-pop sensibilities with a percussive edge that earned them airtime on college radio and early MTV. Their 1983 hit “Numbers with Wings” not only became a cult classic—it also earned a nomination at the very first MTV Video Music Awards.
Now, the original lineup—Richard Barone, James Mastro, Rob Norris, and Frank Giannini—returns to the stage to mark the 40th anniversary of their iconic 1985 Jersey Shore performance. That once-lost live recording has been unearthed and officially released as The Shroud of Touring on JEM Records, available for the first time at this exclusive show.
