Founded on a rich legacy of farming dating back to the Revolutionary War era, Saddlehill Winery is a labor of love and dedication by Amy and Bill Green, who have breathed new life into this historic land.

The story of Saddlehill Winery begins with Lt. John Stafford, a loyal personal guard of George Washington, who received a parcel of land in 1772. Over the centuries, the Stafford family cultivated the land, focusing on crops like corn, potatoes, hay, and horse harness racing. In 2003, the Stafford farming legacy was secured when the land was preserved by The Land Trust of NJ, ensuring its continued existence as a farm.

However, by the early 21st century, the farm faced challenges, with fences falling into disrepair and buildings needing attention. In March 2021, Amy and Bill Green stepped in to breathe new life into the property. Inspired by the Stafford family history and their own memories of horse racing, the Greens embarked on a mission to restore the farm and create a vineyard and winery that honors its heritage.

Today, Saddlehill Winery stands as a beacon of renewal and community. The landscape once again buzzes with life—horses gallop across the fields, alpacas graze peacefully, and traditional agriculture resonates throughout the farm. The Greens’ unwavering dedication is evident in every aspect of Saddlehill, from the care of the land to the production of exceptional wines.
