The newly renovated White Eagle Hall boasts an impressive array of features, making it one of the most unique live-performance venues in the Northeast. With approximately 8,000 square feet of flexible space, the venue can accommodate up to 800 standing guests, 400 seated attendees, or 250 diners. Its historic charm is evident in details like the wrought iron wrap-around balcony and the coffered tin ceiling adorned with two magnificent stained glass atriums, towering at 28 feet high.
But it’s not just about aesthetics – White Eagle Hall has invested in state-of-the-art technology to ensure an unparalleled experience for both artists and audiences. Acoustic optimization ensures crystal-clear sound, with sound isolation springs, custom-fabricated diffusion panels, and a cutting-edge D&B Audiotechnik PA system. Lighting is equally impressive, with LED theatrical lights and full-color spectrum capability, all controlled by a sophisticated MADOT2 lighting board.
History echoes through the halls of White Eagle Hall, which first opened its doors in 1910, a testament to the craftsmanship of Polish immigrants led by Father Peter Boleslaus Kwiatowski. Over the years, it became a cornerstone of the community, hosting church-related activities and serving as a gathering place for locals. Today, the venue continues to honor its heritage while embracing the future, preserving elements like the hand-crafted stain-glass skylights commemorating Frédéric Chopin and Marcella Sembrich.
One of White Eagle Hall’s most storied contributions is its connection to basketball, particularly the legendary St. Anthony Friars coached by Jersey City native Bob Hurley. The original wood basketball floor, where the Friars practiced, now serves as bar counters and balcony flooring, a tangible link to the venue’s illustrious past.
The restoration of White Eagle Hall was not just about preserving history – it was also a commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Repurposing materials from the original construction and following the latest in sustainable building practices, the restoration project was a labor of love undertaken by Ben LoPiccolo Development Group, LLC (BLDG). In recognition of its efforts, the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy awarded White Eagle Hall the 2017 Excellence in Preservation Award.
