Jersey City to Welcome Global Tech: NJEDA Launches NJ BASE to Attract International Innovation

In a bold move to position New Jersey as a global player in the innovation economy, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has selected SOSA, a renowned global technology consulting firm, to operate NJ BASE—New Jersey’s newest and most ambitious business initiative. This upcoming business acceleration hub, located at 3 Second Street in the heart of Jersey City, will serve as a strategic “landing pad” for international companies entering the U.S. market.

The NJ BASE (New Jersey Business Acceleration and Softlanding Ecosystem) program is designed to attract foreign companies working in cutting-edge industries including artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity, and other high-tech sectors critical to the future of New Jersey’s economy. The state-of-the-art facility will offer not just workspaces, but also marketing services, operational support, and access to key partners and investors, making it an all-in-one soft-landing zone for global firms ready to scale.

SOSA brings over a decade of experience to the table, having developed more than 40 international accelerator and landing pad programs in partnership with governments and major corporations worldwide. Their selection by NJEDA came after a competitive review process, and the firm is already laying the groundwork for what is expected to be a game-changing economic development initiative.

The facility itself spans over 7,200 square feet of Class A office space, complete with modern conference rooms and event areas. Conveniently located near public transportation and the waterfront, NJ BASE is perfectly positioned for high-growth startups and international tech firms to plant roots and expand their presence across the broader U.S. market.

With this new venture, New Jersey is putting serious weight behind its goal to become a premier destination for international business. Companies that enter through NJ BASE will benefit from a streamlined path to U.S. expansion—connecting with potential customers, talent, and strategic partners while receiving hands-on support to navigate the local market landscape.

Under Governor Phil Murphy’s administration, the Garden State has made strong economic investments aimed at building an innovation ecosystem that goes beyond borders. With initiatives like NJ BASE, the state is not only helping foreign companies get their footing in America, but also fostering long-term job creation, private sector investment, and collaborative research opportunities with local universities and institutions.

The program’s timing couldn’t be more strategic. As international companies seek reliable, resource-rich entry points into the U.S., Jersey City is emerging as an ideal launchpad. Its proximity to New York City, diverse talent pipeline, and increasing infrastructure for innovation make it a prime location for growth-minded firms.

This new initiative will also deepen global partnerships. Just recently, NJEDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Abu Dhabi’s Hub71, a move that further supports startups looking to scale across continents. NJ BASE is poised to complement that agreement, offering a physical base for collaboration and growth in New Jersey.

Wesley Mathews, President and CEO of Choose New Jersey, noted that the state’s value proposition continues to resonate on the international stage. “NJ BASE will provide foreign businesses with the tools, connections, and resources they need to thrive here,” Mathews said. “It strengthens our global partnerships while supporting the type of high-quality, long-term economic growth that benefits everyone.”

The NJEDA has awarded SOSA a three-year management contract, with the option for two one-year extensions. The firm will oversee day-to-day operations and the overall development of NJ BASE, from recruitment of international companies to building out the ecosystem of local business relationships and support systems.

For business leaders and investors watching from around the world, this is yet another signal that New Jersey is open for business—and ready to compete on the global stage. Whether you’re a tech startup from Europe or an AI company from Asia looking to establish a U.S. presence, NJ BASE could be your strategic gateway to the American market.
