Mt. Laurel, NJ — New Jersey’s wine industry is blooming—and at the heart of it are the women transforming vineyards, cellars, and tasting rooms across the Garden State. On Tuesday, May 21st at 11 a.m., the Women in Wine Caucus of the Garden State Wine Growers Association will host the Second Annual Women in Wine Meet & Greet, a powerful gathering aimed at inspiring, educating, and empowering women within the state’s rapidly growing wine scene.
Held at the historic Alice Paul Institute—a space named after one of America’s most influential female voices for equality—this unique event will blend community, education, and celebration. The venue’s legacy of advocacy makes it a fitting backdrop for a day that honors the trailblazing women who are cultivating New Jersey’s wine future.
A Career Panel with Purpose and Passion
This isn’t your average meet and greet. It’s a chance to get to know the passionate women literally behind the vines. The event includes a career panel moderated by award-winning wine and sustainability journalist Robin Shreeves, featuring some of the most respected women in New Jersey viticulture:
- Leigh Ann Wilson, Head of Winemaking & Business Development at Cedar Rose Vineyards
- Jules Donnini, Owner and Winemaker at Auburn Road Vineyards & Winery
- Madeline Cozine, Vineyard Manager at Working Dog Winery
Together, these panelists will share their personal journeys, offer insight into the hands-on work of winemaking, and discuss what it means to thrive in a field where only 17% of winemakers in the U.S. are women.
“We’re bringing together passionate women making history in an industry still finding its balance,” says Staci Dempsey, Chair of the Women in Wine Caucus. “Whether you’re a student, a curious career-changer, or already working in wine and looking to grow—this event is for you.”
Sip, Learn, and Connect
In addition to the panel, guests will enjoy Garden State-grown wines and light local fare while networking with women who represent every corner of the wine world—from vineyard managers and sommeliers to wine writers and sales reps.
This is more than a professional development event—it’s a celebration of community and craft.
RSVP is required by May 1, 2024, and spots are expected to fill quickly.

Growing Opportunity Through Grit and Grits (Yes, There’s Food!)
The Women in Wine Caucus was founded by Victoria Reader to create an inclusive space for women in the wine industry to connect, learn, and advance. Today, under Dempsey’s leadership, the Caucus offers real-world training that isn’t always accessible through traditional education, including:
- Heavy machinery operation
- Vineyard maintenance and dormant pruning
- Tasting technique and sensory analysis
Members include everyone from vineyard owners and cellar hands to distributors and consultants. It’s a true cross-section of New Jersey’s wine talent—working together to raise the bar and open doors.
A Partner in the Craft: Red Vanilla
This year’s event is generously sponsored by Red Vanilla, a globally respected tabletop and wine glassware company. Their commitment to craftsmanship and elegance mirrors that of New Jersey’s winemakers, making them the perfect partner in this effort to highlight local talent.
“Just as Red Vanilla elevates the dining experience with beautiful design, the Garden State’s women winemakers elevate the craft of winemaking,” said a company representative. “We’re proud to support this meaningful movement.”
Why New Jersey Wine?
With over 60 licensed wineries and vineyards spanning the state’s four federally designated American Viticultural Areas (AVAs)—Warren Hills, Central Delaware Valley, Cape May Peninsula, and the Outer Coastal Plain—New Jersey is a hidden gem in the American wine landscape.
The state’s diverse soils and microclimates allow for the cultivation of over 80 grape varieties, including world-class Cabernet Franc, Albarino, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Beyond grapes, New Jersey is a leader in crafting fruit-forward wines, including blueberry, peach, and apple blends that reflect its rich agricultural heritage.
In short? There’s never been a more exciting time—or place—to explore a career in wine.

Whether you dream of becoming a winemaker, launching a wine-focused business, or simply want to learn more about the vibrant local scene, the Women in Wine Meet & Greet is your invitation to connect with leaders, ask questions, and toast to what’s possible.
