Every Tuesday evening this August, Pier Village’s open air Carousel Stage in Long Branch turns into one of the most low key, high atmosphere live music spots at the Jersey Shore. Jazz Evenings at Pier Village runs from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday through the end of the month, right beside the boardwalk’s historic carousel and just steps from the sand, offering free admission to anyone willing to bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for two hours of live jazz as the sun drops over the Atlantic.

A Regular Rotation of Regional Talent

The series leans on a rotating lineup of regional jazz musicians rather than a single fixed act, giving each Tuesday its own character while keeping the overall vibe consistent, a mix of jazz standards and contemporary favorites suited to an easy summer evening rather than a formal concert setting. The Carousel Stage itself has become something of a hub for Pier Village’s broader entertainment calendar, also hosting a Monday night tribute band series featuring national touring acts and a Saturday artisan market packed with Jersey Shore crafters and vendors, making the stretch of boardwalk around the carousel a genuine seven day destination rather than a single night attraction.

The Month Builds Toward a Full Day Festival

Jazz Evenings is only the weekly appetizer for a much larger event closing out the month. On Saturday, August 29th, from 1 to 10 p.m., the Long Branch Jazz and Blues Festival takes over the Great Lawn and Promenade just steps from Pier Village, presented by the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation as part of a community tradition that has run at the Jersey Shore for years under various names and locations. The free, all day event stretches across eight hours of live music spanning jazz, blues, soul, and beyond, with a full lineup of regional and national acts building toward a fireworks display over the ocean once the sun goes down.

1:05 PM Sweet Music Academy Youth Band
2:15 PM Jane Stuart
3:30 PM Soul Project
4:45 PM Nth Degree
6:00 PM Sharon Lasher & Jersey Blues
7:30 PM The Jimmys
9:00 PM Fireworks over the Atlantic
Between the weekly Jazz Evenings series and the Labor Day weekend festival finale, Pier Village and the city of Long Branch effectively turn the entire month of August into a running celebration of live music along the boardwalk.

A Boardwalk Built for a Full Evening Out

Part of what makes Jazz Evenings work as a destination rather than just a concert is the setting itself. Pier Village is a Victorian inspired oceanfront complex that blends beachside residential living with an active public boardwalk promenade, lined with boutique shops, bars, and some of the most highly rated restaurants on this stretch of the Jersey Shore. McLoone’s Pier House anchors the village with upscale American steakhouse fare and seafood, while Sirena Ristorante offers elevated Italian dining with panoramic ocean views for those looking to make a full night of it. Avenue Long Branch brings a modern French American brasserie and beach club to the promenade, and for something more casual, Piazza on the Pier has built a loyal following around its oversized garlic knot sandwiches and thin crust pizza.
