Navigating Mount Olive During Upcoming Road Improvements on Flanders-Netcong Road

New Jersey is a state constantly in motion, and that often means improvements to our vital infrastructure. For residents and commuters in Mount Olive Township, an important update is on the horizon concerning Flanders-Netcong Road (County Road 613). Beginning soon, an essential erosion control project will temporarily alter traffic patterns, ensuring the long-term integrity of our roadways.

Starting Monday, June 23rd, southbound traffic on Flanders-Netcong Road, specifically between U.S. Route 206 and Flanders-Drakestown Road, will experience a temporary detour. This initial phase, designed for erosion control, is anticipated to last approximately 5 to 10 business days. It’s important to note that during this period, northbound traffic will remain unaffected and flow as usual. Construction crews will be on site Monday through Friday, from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the detour being lifted at the end of each workday. This means commuters can expect normal traffic flow during off-hours and weekends for Phase 1.

Looking ahead, Phase 2 of the project is slated to commence on Monday, July 14th. During this stage, southbound traffic in the same stretch of Flanders-Netcong Road will be subject to a more permanent detour. While the daily work schedule will remain consistent – Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – the detour for southbound traffic will be in effect continuously, including evenings and weekends, until the completion of construction. This second phase is projected to take about 15 to 20 business days.

To help you navigate these changes, here are the detailed detour routes for southbound traffic:.

For traffic on Flanders-Netcong Road heading toward U.S. Route 206 (before Drakesdale Road):

  • Turn left onto Drakesdale Road.
  • Turn right onto U.S. Route 206.
  • Continue straight to the intersection of U.S. Route 206 and Flanders-Netcong Road (C.R. 613), which marks the end of the detour.

For traffic originating from Flanders Road, Corey Road, Ramar Street, and Flanders-Drakestown Road:

  • Turn left onto Flanders-Netcong Road.
  • Turn right onto Drakesdale Road.
  • Turn right onto U.S. Route 206.
  • Continue straight to the intersection of U.S. Route 206 and Flanders-Netcong Road (C.R. 613), signifying the end of the detour.

Understanding the local impact, authorities have assured that residents residing within the closure limits will have access wherever feasible. Provisions are also being made to ensure essential services, such as postal deliveries, waste collection, emergency response, and medical transportation, can operate without significant disruption.

These temporary adjustments are a crucial part of maintaining and improving our infrastructure, ultimately contributing to safer and more efficient travel for everyone in the long run. Planning for these detours in advance will undoubtedly help minimize any inconvenience.
