The Mavericks & Friends

The Mavericks, formed in Miami in 1989, built a genre-defying, Grammy Award winning career blending neotraditional country, rock and roll, and Latin rhythmic fervor into a sound entirely their own, scoring hits like All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down and the UK favorite Dance the Night Away across more than a dozen studio albums. The band was long fronted by the incomparable Raul Malo, whose lush, soaring baritone, often compared to Roy Orbison, became the group’s defining voice and creative spark, drawing on his Cuban American heritage and Miami roots to push the boundaries of American music. Following Malo’s passing in December 2025 after a battle with cancer, this Friends format performance honors his enormous legacy and the Grammy winning catalog he helped create, bringing together the band’s surviving members and guest collaborators for a night celebrating the eclectic, boundary crossing spirit that defined The Mavericks’ remarkable four decade run.
