Card tricks rarely make front page news, but Asi Wind’s have. On Monday, October 26, the magician The New York Times has called one of the great magicians of our time returns to The Vogel, bringing his particular brand of mind reading, card mastery, and genuine audience connection back to Red Bank.

Wind’s path to becoming one of magic’s most respected working performers started small. Born in Holon, Israel, he discovered magic through his uncle but didn’t learn his first actual trick until he was thirteen, spending fifty shekels at a Tel Aviv magic shop to learn it. He moved to New York in 2001 after visiting his brother, and has spent the decades since building a reputation few magicians ever reach. In 2022, the Academy of Magical Arts crowned him Magician of the Year, an honor previously given to legends like David Copperfield and Penn & Teller.

An Off-Broadway Sensation That Kept Extending

Wind’s off-Broadway show, Inner Circle, built entirely around a single deck of cards personalized by the audience each night, became a genuine sold out sensation, extending its run six separate times for a total of 448 performances. The New York Times named it a Critic’s Pick, and reviewers across major outlets reached for increasingly enthusiastic language to describe it. The Wall Street Journal called Wind gobsmacking, mystifying, and spectacular. The New Yorker described him as dazzling and astonishing.

He must have superpowers.

Celebrity Reactions Say As Much as the Reviews

Wind’s television appearances have made almost as much noise as his live shows. His appearance on Penn & Teller: Fool Us became one of the most watched performances in the program’s ten season history, racking up over 15 million views on YouTube. On The View, Whoopi Goldberg said he blew her mind, then went on to blow the minds of the entire studio audience. Kelly Clarkson, visibly stunned during her own encounter with his magic, told him to go to hell before demanding to know exactly how he’d done it.

Why This Show Is Worth Believing the Hype

It’s rare for a magician to earn this much consistent praise from both serious critics and A-list celebrities without a single detractor muddying the reviews. Wind’s approach centers on making audiences feel genuinely part of the show rather than simply fooling them from a distance, an intimacy that a room the size of The Vogel is perfectly suited to deliver. For anyone who’s ever wondered what genuine, jaw dropping mind reading actually looks like up close, this is the night to find out.
