Cranford Tuesdays at the Clock: Laurie Vega Trio – Broadway Jazz Comes to Cranford

Laurie Vega, a classically trained vocalist who hails from the sizzling streets of Spanish Harlem, brings her trio to Cranford’s outdoor Summer Sounds series at Eastman Plaza. A graduate of the famed High School of Music and Art who majored in voice before continuing her formal training at SUNY New Paltz, Vega’s sound carries hints of Judy Garland and Ethel Merman, a voice that can belt, hold notes til the sun goes down, and sell a song full of emotion. She’s celebrating nearly two decades as a regular at New York City’s storied Don’t Tell Mama Cabaret, and has performed at Iridium, Dizzy’s Jazz Club, and the Metropolitan Room in New York, alongside dozens of New Jersey venues including Shanghai Jazz, SoPAC, and the Morris Museum. Bringing swinging renditions of the Great American Songbook to downtown Cranford, Laurie Vega and her trio deliver an evening of classic jazz standards with genuine, crowd-pleasing energy.
