Bovio Rubino Service Launches New Training Center in Berlin, NJ, Expanding Career-Building Opportunities in HVAC and PlumbingExplore more in Technology & Business

As the new year kicks into gear, New Jersey’s home services industry just got a major upgrade. Bovio Rubino Service—one of the most trusted names in HVAC and plumbing across South Jersey—has officially opened a brand-new training center, adding 2,000 square feet of dedicated space to its Berlin, NJ warehouse. But this isn’t just about expanding physical space. It’s about investing in people, growing careers, and raising the bar for technical training in the Garden State.

A Space Built for Skills and Success

In an industry where precision, knowledge, and safety are everything, quality training isn’t optional—it’s essential. That’s exactly what the new Bovio Rubino Training Center is designed to provide. With a layout built to simulate real-world systems and scenarios, this space serves as a hands-on learning environment where technicians—both new and seasoned—can develop, sharpen, and future-proof their skills.

From heating and cooling systems to plumbing installations and diagnostics, the training facility offers Bovio Rubino team members a controlled setting to gain real-time experience with the very same equipment they’ll be working with in the field. The result? Better-prepared technicians, higher service standards, and safer, more efficient work across every home and business they serve.

Strengthening the Workforce from the Inside Out

At its core, this training center is about more than HVAC units and plumbing lines. It’s about people. Bovio Rubino’s leadership understands that great service starts with great employees—and great employees need a path to grow.

This space will not only train incoming hires but also provide ongoing education for current staff, empowering technicians to move up, specialize, and become leaders within the company. It’s a forward-thinking move that highlights Bovio Rubino’s commitment to nurturing local talent and helping their team members build long-term careers in the trades.

For high school grads looking for alternatives to college, for veterans transitioning into civilian careers, or for anyone seeking a hands-on profession with real upward mobility, this training center represents a launchpad—not just a job, but a future.

And as the industry faces an ongoing shortage of skilled tradespeople nationwide, having a facility like this in Berlin helps put New Jersey ahead of the curve. It keeps jobs local. It keeps talent local. And it raises the overall level of craftsmanship and customer care throughout the region.

What It Means for the Future

As more homes and buildings adopt energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and as plumbing technologies evolve, the need for top-tier technical knowledge is only growing. Bovio Rubino’s proactive investment in professional development shows that they’re not just keeping up—they’re leading.

This training center isn’t just a smart move for business. It’s a model for how service companies across the country can raise their game by putting people first.

Dotgo Brings RCS to iPhones: A Game-Changer for Business Messaging in New Jersey and BeyondExplore more in Technology & Business

New Jersey’s own Dotgo just did something major—again. The global leader in Rich Communication Services (RCS) for business messaging has officially rolled out support for Apple’s iPhone on its flagship RCS platform. It’s not just a big move for Dotgo—it’s a game-changer for how businesses connect with their customers, and it cements New Jersey’s role as a major hub in the future of digital communication.

What’s the Big Deal About RCS?

If you’re not familiar with RCS yet, think of it as SMS 2.0. RCS enhances regular text messaging with rich media—think high-resolution photos, carousels, buttons, suggested replies, location sharing, and branding—all right inside your default messaging app. It’s been a go-to for Android devices for years, but Apple had been the missing piece of the puzzle. Until now.

With Dotgo’s latest innovation, RCS messaging is officially available to iPhone users. That means businesses can now engage both Android and Apple audiences with the same high-end, branded messaging experience—without needing a separate app.

Why This Matters for New Jersey Businesses

Dotgo isn’t just another tech company—it’s a homegrown innovation powerhouse with deep roots in the Garden State. By enabling Apple support on its platform, Dotgo is putting New Jersey at the epicenter of a messaging revolution. Small businesses, Fortune 500s, startups, healthcare providers, banks—you name it—can now connect with their customers in more personal, interactive ways than ever before.

We’re talking about appointment confirmations with real-time buttons, order tracking with live status updates, and customer service conversations that feel more like chatting with a real person than navigating a phone tree. And yes, all of that can now land right in your iPhone’s native Messages app.

From New Brunswick to the World Stage

Dotgo’s reach is global, but its innovation is proudly New Jersey-made. Based in the heart of the state’s tech corridor, Dotgo’s team of engineers and innovators have continuously pushed the envelope of what’s possible in mobile messaging.

This latest announcement builds on a series of industry firsts, solidifying Dotgo’s role as a trailblazer in the RCS space. Supporting Apple wasn’t just a technical feat—it was a massive step forward in bridging the messaging divide that has long separated iOS and Android users.

The Future of Business Messaging Has Arrived

By making RCS work seamlessly across both major mobile platforms, Dotgo has done more than just solve a problem—they’ve redefined what customer engagement can look like.

For consumers, it means more intuitive, richer experiences without downloading yet another app. For businesses, it’s about meeting customers where they already are—with messaging that’s smarter, faster, and more impactful.

And for New Jersey? It’s another win for the state’s growing influence in tech innovation. Dotgo’s leadership in the RCS space underscores the kind of forward-thinking, global impact companies born and raised in New Jersey can achieve.

SHI International became the official naming rights partner of Rutgers Stadium in 2019.

Rutgers Welcomes a Bold New Era with Incoming President William Tate IV

Rutgers Welcomes a Bold New Era with Incoming President William Tate IV

Rutgers University is gearing up for a transformative new chapter as it officially welcomes Dr. William F. Tate IV as its 22nd president, effective July 1. With deep experience leading sprawling, multi-campus public universities, a stellar academic pedigree, and a vision rooted in innovation, Dr. Tate’s arrival marks a major moment for the State University of New Jersey — and for New Jersey itself.

This historic appointment follows the leadership of Dr. Jonathan Holloway, who will step down at the end of June after five years at the helm, during which he helped steer Rutgers through some of the most challenging years in higher education. From pandemic turbulence to social unrest to a historic labor strike, Holloway’s tenure brought stability and bold decision-making to a university woven into the very fabric of the Garden State.

Now, as Dr. Tate prepares to step in, Rutgers is ready to lean into its strengths — and sharpen its edge.

A Vision Bigger Than the Banks of the Raritan

Dr. Tate arrives at Rutgers with a powerful résumé and a track record of impact. As the former president of Louisiana State University, he led over 60,000 students across eight campuses while also serving as the top academic officer for the entire LSU system. That experience positions him perfectly for Rutgers’ own tri-campus structure — spanning New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden — along with its statewide research footprint.

He’s not just an administrator. He’s an intellectual force. Tate holds faculty appointments in sociology, psychiatry, epidemiology, and public health, and he’s been elected to both the National Academy of Education and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. At LSU, he helped elevate the university’s research stature, fostered public-private partnerships, and championed both academic excellence and student engagement.

But perhaps most importantly, he understands what makes Rutgers — and New Jersey — unique.

“The Rutgers Edge is more than a metaphor,” Tate said during his introductory remarks. “It’s the expression of New Jersey’s grit, toughness, and resilience.” That connection — between personal journey and institutional mission — is already resonating with students, faculty, and alumni across the state.

Building Bridges for the Future

At the press conference announcing his appointment, Governor Phil Murphy called Tate “the ideal leader and educator for the job.” And it’s easy to see why. Tate brings not just institutional experience, but also a deep commitment to equity, civic engagement, and economic impact.

As Rutgers continues to expand initiatives like the HELIX Health + Life Sciences Exchange and grow research centers like the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, it will benefit from a president who knows how to link academic goals with real-world outcomes. Tate’s work at LSU, which included strategic research focus areas like biomedical science and energy, directly aligns with New Jersey’s innovation economy and the state’s evolving role in life sciences and tech.

Tate also stands out for his proven ability to foster bipartisan support and business partnerships. He hit fundraising records year after year at LSU, much of it through collaboration with industry. That bodes well for Rutgers’ role not just as a top-tier university, but as a cornerstone of New Jersey’s economic future.

A Leader for All Campuses, All Students

With over 68,000 students across its campuses, Rutgers needs a leader who can understand and connect with every facet of its community — from first-year undergrads in Camden to doctoral candidates in Newark to medical researchers in New Brunswick. Tate has made it clear: the students are at the heart of everything.

“What draws young people to a campus? Of course, parents want strong academics,” he said. “But students also want Greek life, sports, a full experience. Rutgers offers all of that — rolled into one.”

It’s not just talk. Dr. Tate’s passion for student life and campus engagement is infectious. At LSU, he became known for meeting students where they were — even taking part in quirky traditions like “Putting with the President” events. Don’t be surprised to see him cheering on the Scarlet Knights at SHI Stadium or visiting student organizations around campus.

His ambitions don’t stop at community-building. “I will win the Big Ten,” he said with conviction. “I’m not interested in second place.” That mindset — blending academic rigor with competitive spirit — will be key as Rutgers pushes forward on every front.

New Leadership, Same Jersey Spirit

Tate’s selection caps off a rigorous search process led by a 20-member committee and supported by executive search firm WittKieffer. According to Amy Towers, Chair of the Rutgers Board of Governors, the committee was laser-focused on finding a leader with the depth to guide Rutgers through an evolving higher ed landscape — someone who could listen deeply, think boldly, and lead through complexity.

“We are 259 years old,” said Towers. “This university has lived through a lot of change. And we expect to be even stronger in the next 250 years.”

With Dr. Tate at the helm, Rutgers seems poised not just to weather the future — but to shape it.

What’s Next?

There’s a fresh buzz on campus as the Rutgers community looks ahead to July 1. But before then, Dr. Tate will be engaging with students, visiting key research centers, and preparing to take the reins of a university ready to level up on every front.

From athletics to academics, from urban research to global impact, Rutgers is leaning into its next era — with a president who sees both the promise and the purpose of New Jersey’s flagship institution.

Want to stay on top of Rutgers events and everything else happening across the Garden State? Head to Explore New Jersey’s event calendar for concerts, community happenings, cultural showcases, and more.

Rutgers is ready for the future. And with William Tate IV leading the way, the future just got a lot more exciting.

New Jersey’s Office Market Tightens as Suburban Demand Rises and Vacancy Rates Stay Below National Average

While downtown skylines across the country continue adjusting to a post-pandemic workforce, New Jersey’s commercial office market is quietly making a name for itself — balancing increasing rents, tightening vacancies, and a renewed focus on premium suburban office locations.

In April 2025, New Jersey posted an office vacancy rate of 18.9%, comfortably below the national average of 19.7%, making it one of the tighter markets in the Northeast region. That number, while reflecting a slight increase year-over-year, shows a remarkable resilience considering the macro trends affecting central business districts (CBDs) across the country.

📉 Less Space, Higher Demand: The State of NJ’s Office Market

Across the Northeast, major office hubs are in transition — and New Jersey is no exception. While some traditional downtown strongholds are seeing an ebb in activity, New Jersey’s suburban and well-connected regional hubs are booming.

One of the strongest indicators of this shift is the trend toward “trophy” suburban office parks and revitalized downtown districts with strong commuter infrastructure. Locations like Morristown, which recently welcomed global pharmaceutical company Sanofi from Bridgewater, are proving especially attractive. With walkable downtowns, train access, and a better work-life balance for employees, these markets are leading the next wave of office leasing.

📍 Key Suburban Winners:

  • Morristown
  • Parsippany
  • Metropark
  • Princeton
  • Short Hills

🏗️ Construction Slows, But Quality Takes the Lead

Nationwide, only 2.8 million square feet of new office space broke ground in April, highlighting a continued cooldown in new office construction. But here in New Jersey, the story isn’t about how much is being built — it’s about what is being built and where.

Developers are focusing less on volume and more on high-performance, experience-driven workplaces. Energy efficiency, green certifications, modern amenities, and flexible floorplans are now considered baseline — not bonuses.

This strategy reflects a growing emphasis on “destination office environments” where employees feel motivated to return, collaborate, and stay long-term.

💵 Rents Remain High Despite Regional Dips

Even with rent drops reported in many parts of the country, the Northeast — and New Jersey in particular — continues to rank among the most expensive office markets in the U.S.

Here’s a quick rent comparison snapshot:

MarketAverage Asking Rent (PSF)
Manhattan$68.34
Boston$46.06
New Jersey$33.45
National Avg$33.34

Though New Jersey’s average price per square foot is only marginally higher than the national average, its ability to maintain that premium amid market fluctuations signals confidence — and quality — in the state’s inventory.

🧭 The Future of Office in the Garden State

New Jersey’s commercial real estate landscape continues to evolve, but one thing is clear: location, infrastructure, and adaptability are driving the market forward. From modernized suburban campuses to revitalized downtown enclaves, the state is positioning itself as a hybrid-friendly, talent-centric hub for the next generation of business.

With developers prioritizing quality over quantity, and tenants seeking connection, convenience, and culture, New Jersey is quietly building one of the most resilient and responsive office ecosystems in the region.

Robbinsville Lacrosse Rises to the Moment with Commanding First-Round Win Over Sterling in South Group II Showdown

The future is now for Robbinsville boys lacrosse.

Despite entering the season with one of the youngest rosters in recent program history, the Ravens have never lost sight of their expectations: compete hard in the Colonial Valley Conference and make a legitimate run in the state playoffs. On Wednesday afternoon at the Steven J. Mayer Athletic Complex, they took the first bold step toward that goal — and did it in emphatic fashion.

Fifth-seeded Robbinsville dismantled 12th-seeded Sterling, 19-4, in the opening round of the South Jersey Group II tournament, combining high-octane offense with swarming defense to make a definitive postseason statement.

Next up: a quarterfinal clash against CVC rival and fourth-seeded Allentown on Monday — and Robbinsville has every intention of keeping the momentum rolling.

🔥 Young Guns, Big Game

Head coach John Demkovitz has guided Robbinsville to four state tournament wins in his seven seasons, but this year’s victory felt different — not because of who they beat, but because of how they did it.

“We’ve been focused on building something all season,” said Demkovitz. “We wanted to play playoff-level lacrosse before the playoffs actually started, and it’s starting to show.”

Robbinsville entered the postseason battle-tested. After finishing the regular season with a gauntlet of tough opponents — including heavyweights like Southern, Clearview, and Haddonfield — the Ravens came out on Wednesday both fearless and prepared.

Seven players scored goals. Eleven contributed points. Robbinsville wasn’t just relying on one star — they played as a complete, cohesive unit.

🌟 Embley & Alexander Lead the Charge

Among the many standout performances, junior Nolan Embley and sophomore Jack Alexander lit up the scoreboard with identical stat lines: five goals and two assists each, matching their season highs in points.

“Jack and Nolan have put in the work day in and day out. They’re the type of players who don’t always show up in the stat sheet, but they do all the little things right,” Demkovitz said. “Now that the goals are falling, it’s great to see that hard work pay off.”

Senior leader Liam Butler also showed up in a big way, tallying four goals and an assist to push his team-leading point total to 77 on the season. His presence drew defenders, opening up lanes for Robbinsville’s younger attackers to make plays.

Also adding to the offensive explosion:

  • Freshman Travis Sikorski: 2 goals
  • Sophomore AJ Hanuscin: 1 goal, 2 assists
  • Junior Kyle Strand and freshman Ryder Horan: 1 goal each

💪 Dominance Across the Field

The only moment of vulnerability for Robbinsville came late in the first quarter when Sterling strung together three straight goals to briefly tie the game at 3-3. But instead of panicking, the Ravens responded with poise.

Sikorski dodged his way through defenders and fired a momentum-shifting goal with just 17 seconds left in the quarter, reclaiming the lead. From that point forward, Robbinsville slammed the door shut — outscoring Sterling 16-1 the rest of the way and not allowing a single shot on goal in the second quarter.

Much of that dominance came thanks to sophomore Max Guzicki, who won 17 of 25 faceoffs, keeping possession firmly in Robbinsville’s favor.

“When we win faceoffs and move the ball with pace, we can play with anybody,” said Demkovitz. “Once we settled down and cleaned up the details, we got into our rhythm and never looked back.”

🏆 On to the Next One

The journey continues Monday as Robbinsville faces off against a familiar foe: Allentown, a CVC rival with plenty of firepower. It’s a showdown that promises grit, emotion, and high stakes — everything that defines high school playoff lacrosse in New Jersey.

For a team that’s still finding its identity, Robbinsville’s ceiling seems to rise higher every game. They’re not just playing to win — they’re playing to prove that youth can lead, and the future isn’t something to wait for… it’s already here.
