Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional for extra sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup mixed fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc.)
  • Mini muffin pan or silicone molds

Instructions:

  1. Line your pan or molds. Use a mini muffin tin lined with paper cups or flexible silicone molds for easy removal.
  2. Add the crunch. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of granola into the bottom of each cup or mold to create a crunchy base.
  3. Layer the yogurt. Mix the Greek yogurt with honey or maple syrup if you’d like it a bit sweeter. Spoon the yogurt mixture over the granola, filling each cup about 3/4 full.
  4. Top with berries. Add a few fresh berries on top of the yogurt layer for a burst of color and flavor.
  5. Freeze. Place the tray in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until completely frozen.
  6. Serve and enjoy! Pop them out and keep them stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week.

Boston Bruins v New Jersey Devils

Devils Look to Gain Momentum Ahead of 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The countdown is on as the New Jersey Devils head into their final four games of the regular season, and while they’ve already secured a playoff spot, momentum is now the name of the game. Coming off a tough loss to the Boston Bruins, the Devils are hoping to close strong—and shake off recent struggles—before facing a familiar postseason foe.

Thanks to a bit of help from around the league, New Jersey is officially locked into third place in the Metropolitan Division. That seals a first-round matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes, the same team that eliminated them in 2023. With the top-seeded Washington Capitals out of reach and the rest of the pack unable to catch up, the road ahead is clear—and it won’t be easy.

Some skeptics are already writing off the Devils, pointing to the absence of key players like Jack Hughes, Dougie Hamilton, and Jonas Siegenthaler. But while the team may not be at full strength, they still have the opportunity to build rhythm, confidence, and chemistry during the final stretch—ingredients that could be critical in turning the tide when the postseason begins.

Goaltending in Focus

One major question mark for the Devils remains between the pipes. Jacob Markstrom showed promise early in the season but has struggled to regain form since returning from injury. His recent performance against Boston reignited concerns, and while defensive lapses contributed, several soft goals left fans uneasy.

With Utica eliminated from AHL playoff contention, expect a few call-ups, possibly including Nico Daws, to bolster the goaltending depth alongside Jake Allen. If Markstrom falters again, the team may need to pivot quickly.

Who Steps Up?

With three home games remaining before a season finale rematch in Boston, the Devils need production from stars like Timo Meier, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt, and gritty net-front presence from players like Stefan Noesen and Dawson Mercer. Offensive consistency and defensive responsibility are key—especially if the Devils hope to contain a Carolina squad that, while dangerous, is far from unbeatable.

The Hurricanes have lost three straight, including a 5-1 defeat to Boston and a shutout at the hands of Buffalo. With both teams fairly evenly matched in goals for and against, this series could come down to which team finds its rhythm first.

History on Their Side?

Let’s not forget: the Devils and Hurricanes split their four-game regular season series, each holding serve on home ice. If New Jersey can defend Prudential Center and steal a game on the road, they’ll put themselves in position to advance.

It’s a tall order, but not an impossible one. Fans still recall the underdog run of the 2012 Devils, who clawed their way to the Stanley Cup Final as a sixth seed. Could the 2025 squad channel that same energy?

There’s no better time than now to find out. With the playoffs looming, these final four games may prove pivotal—not just for standings, but for belief.

What’s Your Take?
Will the Devils benefit from a strong finish heading into their showdown with Carolina? Is momentum in hockey a real edge—or just a myth? Share your thoughts with Explore New Jersey and let us know how confident you are in this team’s playoff chances!

Murphy Proposes New Phone Line Tax to Fund 988 Crisis Hotline – But Election-Year Politics Looms

Governor Phil Murphy has put forward a proposal to implement a new tax on phone lines to help fund the 988 mental health crisis hotline. The proposed levy is part of a larger set of new taxes Murphy is advocating for as part of his budget plan. However, with the state’s upcoming election year on the horizon, questions are being raised about whether political dynamics could hinder the success of these proposals.

The 988 hotline, launched in 2022, offers critical mental health support for individuals experiencing a crisis, serving as a lifeline for those in need. The new tax, which would be applied to phone lines, aims to provide consistent funding for this crucial service, ensuring its availability for New Jersey residents in need of mental health assistance.

While the proposal has garnered support from mental health advocates and those in favor of bolstering public health services, it could face resistance from legislators wary of introducing new taxes during an election year. Tax hikes often spark debate, and with political pressures rising, it remains to be seen how the plan will fare in the coming months.

As Murphy pushes for the tax to be included in the state budget, all eyes will be on whether lawmakers will embrace the proposal or if election-year concerns will lead to its delay or rejection.

The chicken finger craze is heading north. After successfully planting its roots in South Jersey, popular fast-casual chain Raising Cane’s is preparing to expand its crispy empire into North Jersey—and the buzz is already building.

According to NorthJersey.com, Raising Cane’s will be moving into a former Houlihan’s location along Route 46 in Fairfield, with plans to open its doors later this year. This marks a significant step in the chain’s efforts to grow its footprint across the Garden State.

But that’s just the beginning. Raising Cane’s has also secured local approval for a new drive-thru restaurant in Edison, replacing a former bank at the Edison Crossroads Shopping Center on Route 1. Meanwhile, a third location has been proposed for Watchung, at the Blue Star Shopping Center, according to MyCentralJersey.com.

While the company hasn’t publicly detailed its full rollout plans, it’s clear Raising Cane’s is eyeing major growth throughout New Jersey.

A Fan-Favorite Formula

Founded in 1996, Raising Cane’s keeps its menu refreshingly simple—and wildly popular. The chain specializes in hand-battered chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and its signature Cane’s Sauce. With more than 800 locations nationwide, it’s become one of the fastest-growing restaurant brands in the U.S.

Raising Cane’s made its New Jersey debut in Burlington last year, and has since opened locations in Washington Township, Marlton, Cherry Hill, Deptford, and Glassboro. The North Jersey expansion represents the next chapter in its statewide strategy—and locals can’t wait to get their hands on the chain’s famous chicken finger meals.

NHL Playoff Picture – Where the Devils Stand as 2025 Postseason Looms (4/11/25)

The race to the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs is heating up, and the postseason picture is starting to take shape. Teams across the league are either clinching their playoff tickets or seeing their hopes fade as elimination becomes official. With just days left in the regular season, every point counts—and for the New Jersey Devils, the path ahead is clear, but momentum remains key.

🏒 Devils Locked into Third in the Metro

Despite a recent stumble against the Boston Bruins, the New Jersey Devils officially clinched a playoff berth this week, thanks to a bit of scoreboard help from other Metropolitan Division rivals. No team behind them can catch up, which means the Devils are locked into the third spot in the Metropolitan Division.

That also seals their first-round opponent: the Carolina Hurricanes, a team that knocked New Jersey out of last year’s playoffs. With Washington firmly holding the top spot in the division, the Devils’ opening series matchup is set in stone—though their mindset heading into it is anything but.

🔥 Final Stretch: Opportunity to Build Momentum

While their spot is secured, the Devils still have four regular-season games remaining. These final matchups are crucial for building confidence, refining chemistry, and potentially making a statement to the rest of the Eastern Conference. With key players like Jack Hughes, Dougie Hamilton, and Jonas Siegenthaler out, others on the roster will need to step up and set the tone.

A strong finish—especially with three of the last four games on home ice—could provide just the spark New Jersey needs to carry some energy into their series against Carolina.

🏆 Around the League: Clinching & Elimination Scenarios (as of 4/11/25)

  • Clinched Playoff Berths:
    • New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, and now the New Jersey Devils have secured spots in the East.
    • In the West, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Vancouver Canucks have clinched.
  • On the Bubble:
    • The Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Tampa Bay Lightning are battling for Wild Card spots in the East.
    • Calgary Flames, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues remain in the hunt out West.
  • Eliminated from Contention:
    • Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, and Anaheim Ducks are officially out of the playoff picture.

🧊 What’s Next for the Devils?

The Devils will need to focus on tightening up defensively and locking down their goaltending situation as they prepare for a grueling series against a tough Carolina squad. Though the Canes may have had their number last year, recent struggles suggest they’re not invincible—and New Jersey has just enough firepower to make this series competitive.

If the Devils can finish strong, anything is possible in the playoffs.
