Aidan Canfield
Aidan Canfield’s artistry infuses a unique combination of rock and country influences from the sounds that he grew up on – a little bit of Seger and Springsteen, a little bit of Kenny Chesney meets Zach Bryan. His heartfelt lyrics and melodies have struck a chord of relatability he’s witnessed on the road on support dates with artists such as Riley Green.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Aidan used the time to discover his passion for playing the guitar, and he started singing and writing songs. In two short years, he started growing a following on social media platforms and released his first single, “The Idea Of Me,” in April of 2022. Since then, Aidan has released six additional singles, an album and his music has nearly 3 million streams. Aidan’s heartfelt lyrics and melodies are what make his music relatable to his fans.
Featured in country music YouTuber and critic Grady Smith’s “Best Music Under the Radar of 2023,” Canfield’s growing popularity has also led to his first CMAFest performance on the Hard Rock Stage and a feature on the Tidal Wave Festival in Atlantic City.
David Pugh is a singer-songwriter based in College Station, Texas. He started making music at 20 with the release of his first single, With You Gone. After putting out two EPs, he took a step back from performing and releasing music to focus on writing and finding his sound.
Now, after a few quiet years, he’s gearing up to release his debut full-length album on June 6th. So far, he’s shared three singles from the project—Alone, Ready, and Down the Line—which reflect a more focused and refined take on his alternative folk style.
The new music leans into honest songwriting with a simple, polished sound—something that feels true to where he is now, both personally and musically.

Guiding the Green Frontier: Jessica Ferranti Launches The Mycelia Group for Cannabis, Psychedelics, and Tech in New Jersey
New Jersey’s burgeoning cannabis market, alongside the rapidly evolving psychedelics and technology sectors, demands experienced and adaptable leadership. Stepping into this dynamic landscape, Jessica Ferranti, a recognized leader with a diverse background, has just launched The Mycelia Group, a groundbreaking firm dedicated to providing fractional executive leadership for businesses navigating these innovative industries.
Ferranti’s impressive track record speaks volumes, showcasing multi-vertical leadership across a range of complex fields including tech, equipment manufacturing, product manufacturing, finance, and media, in addition to her deep expertise in cannabis. This extensive experience positions her and The Mycelia Group as a powerful resource for companies seeking high-level guidance without the full-time commitment and overhead of traditional executive hires.
So, what exactly is “fractional executive leadership”? In essence, it means bringing in a seasoned professional, often at the C-suite level (like a Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Operating Officer, or Chief Technology Officer), to provide strategic direction and hands-on expertise on a part-time or project-specific basis. This model offers incredible flexibility and cost-efficiency for businesses, particularly those in rapidly growing or highly regulated sectors like cannabis and emerging psychedelics, where market dynamics can shift quickly. Instead of committing to a permanent, full-time executive salary and benefits, companies can tap into top-tier talent precisely when and where they need it most.
The Mycelia Group, inspired by the intricate, interconnected network of underground fungi known as mycelium, aims to help businesses strengthen their internal infrastructure for sustainable growth. Ferranti’s approach focuses on building scalable systems, enhancing training programs, improving operational efficiency, and driving revenue growth. For a new or expanding business in the cannabis and psychedelics space in New Jersey, having access to such specialized leadership can be a game-changer, helping them navigate regulatory complexities, optimize market entry strategies, and build robust operations from the ground up.
New Jersey’s cannabis market, in particular, has seen rapid expansion since the launch of adult-use sales. With growing consumer demand and an increasing number of licensed dispensaries across the state, the need for sophisticated business strategies and operational excellence is paramount. The Mycelia Group’s services, especially fractional Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) engagements, can prove invaluable in helping these businesses not only secure their place in the market but also scale smartly and sustainably.
This innovative approach to executive leadership is particularly relevant in New Jersey, where both the cannabis and a potential future psychedelics industry are still maturing and face unique challenges and opportunities. Having access to experienced leadership that understands both the intricacies of these markets and the broader business landscape can significantly contribute to the success and responsible growth of these vital sectors.
The launch of The Mycelia Group highlights the entrepreneurial spirit and specialized expertise thriving within New Jersey’s business ecosystem. As new industries take root and existing ones evolve, flexible and impactful leadership solutions like those offered by Jessica Ferranti’s new venture will be key to unlocking their full potential.

A Creative Surge: New Jersey State Arts Council Fuels Statewide Artistic Flourishing
New Jersey’s vibrant arts and culture scene just received an incredible boost, proving once again that the Garden State is a true haven for creativity. At its 59th Annual Meeting held in Trenton on July 22, 2025, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts proudly announced the approval of over $29 million in grants. This monumental investment will directly support nearly 1,000 arts organizations, individual projects, and talented artists spanning every single county across the state.
This substantial funding underscores New Jersey’s deep commitment to its creative sector, recognizing that the arts are far more than just entertainment. As Governor Phil Murphy eloquently stated, “In New Jersey, the arts mean business.” This investment not only stimulates economic growth by supporting vital nonprofits and creative endeavors, but also enriches the very fabric of our communities, making New Jersey an even more exciting and diverse place to live, work, and visit. Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way, who oversees the Council as Secretary of State, further emphasized, “An investment in the arts is an investment in our communities and overall quality of life for all New Jerseyans.”
The Council’s funding, largely derived from a portion of the state’s Hotel/Motel Occupancy Fee, plays a crucial role. It provides critical operating grants that are often the hardest for nonprofits to secure, offering flexible, multi-year support that helps organizations sustain their missions. Beyond operational support, these grants also fuel key initiatives in arts education, creative aging programs, and projects that drive economic and community development. This holistic approach ensures that the arts are accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or location.
A highlight of the Annual Meeting was a captivating performance by Hadassah Broughton, the talented 2025 NJ Poetry Out Loud State Champion. Her performance served as a powerful reminder of the impact of arts education and the incredible talent nurtured right here in New Jersey. Programs like Poetry Out Loud encourage students to engage with classic poetry through recitation, fostering self-expression and building confidence – a testament to the Council’s broader efforts in arts education.
Adding to the Council’s strength, a new board member was also welcomed, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to guide future initiatives. This continuous evolution and dedicated leadership ensure that the Council remains responsive to the needs of New Jersey’s dynamic arts community.
The ripple effect of this funding will be felt far and wide. From local theaters putting on new productions to community art centers offering classes, and individual artists bringing their visions to life, these grants are the lifeblood that allows New Jersey’s cultural landscape to thrive. They support the creation of new works, the preservation of traditional arts, and the expansion of educational opportunities that inspire the next generation of artists and art lovers.
New Jersey’s vibrant arts and culture sector is a source of immense pride, fostering human understanding, civic pride, and strong communities. This significant investment by the State Arts Council is a powerful affirmation of the arts’ essential role in our society, promising a brighter, more creative future for all New Jerseyans.

Leveling the Playing Field: NRS and DoorDash Empower New Jersey’s Independent Supermarkets and Retailers
In the vibrant landscape of New Jersey’s local commerce, independent supermarkets and neighborhood shops are the backbone of our communities. Now, a groundbreaking partnership is set to give these vital businesses a powerful edge in the competitive retail world. National Retail Solutions (NRS), a Newark-based leader in point-of-sale (POS) technology, has teamed up with DoorDash to deliver enhanced online ordering and delivery services directly to independent merchants nationwide, helping them stand strong against larger chain stores.
This exciting collaboration means that small businesses utilizing NRS’s robust POS platform can now seamlessly integrate with DoorDash’s expansive retail API. The benefit is clear and immediate: participating retailers can easily list their entire inventory online, accept customer orders, and have DoorDash manage the delivery logistics – all at no additional cost to the store itself. This eliminates a significant barrier that often prevents smaller businesses from offering convenient delivery options, which have become a cornerstone of modern retail.
The initial rollout of this program has already shown promising results, particularly within the liquor retail sector. Liquor store owners leveraging the combined capabilities of NRS and DoorDash are reporting positive momentum, demonstrating the immediate impact of making their products more accessible to a wider customer base. This success paves the way for a broader expansion, with NRS planning to extend these valuable benefits to the diverse range of retailers they serve. This includes beloved convenience stores, local bodegas, traditional grocery stores, tobacco shops, and a variety of sundries sellers throughout New Jersey and beyond.
Elie Katz, President and CEO of NRS, passionately articulates the driving force behind this initiative: “Local communities are the soul of America, and the local businesses that support them are the beating heart. This important partnership allows those businesses to thrive in the face of uncertainty, ensuring local communities flourish.” This sentiment truly resonates, as thriving local businesses are crucial for the economic and social fabric of our towns.
Ari Korman, Senior Vice President of E-commerce at NRS, highlights the practical advantages, describing the partnership as “incredibly beneficial.” He emphasizes how this collaboration simplifies the operational challenges that independent merchants often face in today’s fast-paced digital environment. By reducing friction and costs within a crucial sales channel, this partnership empowers small businesses to grow and compete effectively. Korman commends DoorDash’s deep commitment to supporting small businesses, underscoring the shared vision of both companies.
Founded in 2015, NRS has dedicated itself to equipping independent retailers with affordable POS systems and cutting-edge retail operations technology. Their custom-built POS system, active in thousands of locations across the U.S. and Canada, offers essential features like inventory management, sales tracking, and marketing tools. This empowers store owners to streamline operations, gain valuable insights, and ultimately compete and thrive against larger competitors. Earlier this year, NRS also announced a strategic partnership with Google, leveraging Google Search, Google Maps, and Google Shopping to further enhance local customer attraction.
This partnership between NRS and DoorDash represents a significant step forward for New Jersey’s independent retailers. It’s about leveling the playing field, ensuring that the unique charm and personalized service offered by local businesses can now reach customers with the same convenience as larger chains. This initiative not only boosts individual businesses but also strengthens the very communities they serve, fostering economic growth and greater accessibility for consumers.

Unprecedented Moves: The High Stakes in New Jersey’s Federal Prosecutor Appointment
The world of New Jersey politics and federal appointments has been rocked by a truly extraordinary series of events, highlighting the intense scrutiny and high stakes involved in top legal positions. A recent decision by the New Jersey federal bench regarding the interim U.S. Attorney for the state has led to an immediate and forceful response from the current administration, signaling a rare and significant clash over judicial and executive authority.
The situation unfolded on Tuesday night when U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the swift removal of the individual whom New Jersey’s federal judges had chosen to replace interim U.S. Attorney Alina Habba. This came after the New Jersey federal judges exercised a rarely used power to appoint their own candidate, Desiree Leigh Grace, a highly experienced and respected career prosecutor, following the expiration of Habba’s temporary 120-day term. Habba, who had been appointed by the administration as the interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, faced a decision by the judges not to extend her provisional appointment.
Attorney General Bondi’s immediate action to fire the judges’ selected replacement underscores a deep disagreement regarding the process and power dynamics involved in filling such a critical role. This move has ignited considerable debate about judicial independence and the balance of power between the executive and judicial branches of government. The federal bench in New Jersey, like federal courts nationwide, plays a vital role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is served impartially. Their decision to appoint a seasoned prosecutor like Grace was a direct exercise of their statutory authority when a U.S. Attorney vacancy is not permanently filled by presidential nomination and Senate confirmation.
The swift retaliation from the Attorney General’s office signals that the administration is not accepting the federal judges’ decision without a fight. This kind of direct intervention in a court’s appointment of a U.S. Attorney is highly unusual and has drawn significant attention across the legal and political landscape. It raises important questions about who ultimately controls the leadership of federal prosecutorial offices in the absence of a confirmed nominee and how such disagreements might impact the administration of justice in the state.
For New Jersey residents, the leadership of the U.S. Attorney’s Office is paramount. This office is responsible for prosecuting federal crimes, defending the United States in civil cases, and collecting debts owed to the federal government. Its stability and independence are crucial for maintaining public trust and ensuring the fair and effective enforcement of federal laws. The ongoing developments around this key appointment will undoubtedly continue to be a focal point of discussion in legal and political circles throughout the state and beyond.
As this complex situation continues to develop, it serves as a powerful reminder of the intricate interplay between various branches of government and the importance of federal appointments. For more updates and in-depth analysis on this and other significant political developments impacting the Garden State, keep an eye on Explore New Jersey Politics.

This comes at a pivotal time when millions of Americans, including many right here in the Garden State, are navigating the complexities of changes to their Medicaid coverage.
The unwinding of continuous Medicaid enrollment, a provision that helped keep many covered during the pandemic, has led to a major shift in healthcare access. As states redetermine eligibility, a substantial number of individuals and families are finding themselves without the coverage they once relied on. RefillGenie simplifies the process of getting medication refills, making it more accessible and less financially burdensome. Through their user-friendly platform, patients can avoid the often lengthy wait times and costly co-pays associated with traditional doctor’s appointments. This streamlined approach is particularly valuable for those who need to maintain a consistent supply of medication for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, or mental health needs, where interruptions can have significant health consequences.
The platform recognizes that losing Medicaid coverage doesn’t mean health needs disappear. It underscores the importance of continued medication adherence to prevent complications and maintain overall well-being. By offering a fast, affordable, and convenient way to secure refills, RefillGenie is providing a much-needed lifeline during a period of uncertainty for many New Jerseyans. It empowers individuals to take control of their medication access, ensuring their health doesn’t suffer due to administrative changes or financial constraints.

A Shift in the Garden State: What Zillow’s Forecast Means for New Jersey Home Values This Summer
As we move deeper into the summer of 2025, homeowners across New Jersey are watching the real estate market with keen interest. A recent forecast from Zillow suggests a notable shift on the horizon: the majority of home values across the state are expected to experience a decline by the end of September. This marks a significant change from the rapid appreciation seen in recent years, signaling a potential rebalancing of the market.
An in-depth analysis by Zillow, covering 547 ZIP codes with sufficient data, indicates that the vast majority of New Jersey towns will likely see a dip in their home values. This widespread trend suggests that a cooling period might be settling in across much of the Garden State’s housing landscape.
Among the towns predicted to experience the most pronounced drops, three New Jersey communities are forecast to see declines exceeding 2%. Leading this list is Pedricktown, a charming ZIP code nestled in Salem County, which is projected to witness the largest dip, with home values potentially falling by 2.3%. While these figures might cause some homeowners to pause, it’s important to remember that real estate markets are dynamic and influenced by a multitude of factors, including interest rates, inventory levels, and regional economic conditions. After a period of robust growth, a slight correction can be a natural part of the market cycle.
Interestingly, despite the widespread expectation of declines, a select few areas are poised to buck the trend. Only 41 New Jersey towns are actually expected to see an increase in home values by the end of summer. This highlights the nuanced nature of the state’s diverse housing market, where local demand, unique community characteristics, and specific economic drivers can still foster growth even amidst broader downward trends.
For both current homeowners and prospective buyers, understanding these shifts is crucial. For sellers, it underscores the importance of strategic pricing and ensuring your property stands out in an increasingly competitive environment. For buyers, this cooling period could present opportunities to enter the market or negotiate more favorable terms than in the recent past.
While the overall forecast points to a general decrease, it’s essential to remember that real estate is highly localized. Factors like proximity to major transportation hubs, quality of local school districts, and the unique appeal of a town can all play a role in how individual markets perform. As the summer progresses, staying informed about these localized trends will be key. For more detailed insights and ongoing analysis of the New Jersey real estate market, including how these trends might impact your local area, visit Explore New Jersey Real Estate.
Federal Action in Collingswood: FBI Raid Leads to Arrests in Fraud Probe
A significant federal enforcement action unfolded recently in the quiet South Jersey community of Collingswood, drawing attention to the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat criminal activity. On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, federal agents, identified by Collingswood Police as the FBI, conducted a raid that resulted in the detention of at least three individuals. This operation, described by local authorities as being related to criminal fraud, has sparked immediate interest and is still a developing story.
The precise details surrounding the nature of the alleged criminal fraud remain under wraps as the investigation proceeds. An FBI spokesperson has referred all inquiries regarding the raid to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), indicating a potential nexus between the fraud investigation and immigration matters. As of now, ICE has not publicly responded to requests for comment, leaving many questions unanswered for both local residents and those following the case.
The presence of federal agents conducting such an operation in a residential area like Collingswood highlights the reach of federal law enforcement in addressing serious offenses that can impact communities at various levels. While the Collingswood Police Department confirmed their involvement in assisting the federal agents, the lead on this investigation clearly rests with the federal agencies involved.
In situations like these, law enforcement operations are often meticulously planned to ensure public safety while effectively carrying out their objectives. Residents in the vicinity of the raid may have witnessed a heightened law enforcement presence, which is typical during such federal actions. The fact that this is a “developing story” means that more information is expected to emerge as the investigation progresses, potentially shedding light on the full scope of the alleged fraud and the individuals involved.
This incident serves as a reminder of the constant vigilance required by law enforcement to uphold the law and protect communities from various forms of crime, including financial and organized fraud. As details become available, the public will gain a clearer picture of this complex situation. For continuous updates on legal matters, law enforcement activities, and public safety news across the Garden State, keep an eye on developments at Explore New Jersey Law & Order.

Navigating New Jersey’s Immigration Landscape: A Complex Legal Battle Unfolds
New Jersey has long been a state at the forefront of policy debates, and recent developments in its approach to immigration detention centers underscore the complex interplay between state authority and federal law. A recent ruling by a federal appeals court has significantly impacted New Jersey’s ability to prohibit private companies from operating immigrant detention facilities within its borders, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing discussion surrounding immigration enforcement in the Garden State.
For years, New Jersey sought to exert greater control over the operation of immigrant detention centers, particularly those run by private entities. The state’s efforts were driven by concerns over conditions, oversight, and the broader societal implications of such facilities. However, a recent 2-1 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has ruled that New Jersey cannot block these private contracts, effectively overturning a state law designed to do just that.
This judicial decision is a significant victory for private incarceration companies like CoreCivic, which operates the Elizabeth Detention Center. The court’s majority opinion articulated that states cannot regulate private parties in a way that “severely undercuts a federal function,” emphasizing that immigration enforcement falls squarely under federal purview. This ruling opens the door for companies like CoreCivic to continue and potentially expand their operations in New Jersey, and could have ripple effects in other states that have passed similar bans, such as California and Illinois.
The implications of this ruling are far-reaching. For advocates of immigrant rights and various community organizations, the decision is a disappointing setback. They argue that private detention facilities often pose serious health and safety risks, with concerns raised about conditions and accountability. The re-opening of facilities like Delaney Hall in Newark, which is also a privately operated detention site, has already sparked public discourse and protests, highlighting the deep divisions surrounding these issues.
On the other hand, proponents of the ruling emphasize the federal government’s role in enforcing immigration laws and the need for adequate detention capacity. The federal government, particularly under recent administrations, has been keen to expand its network of detention sites to manage immigration enforcement efforts. This ruling could facilitate that expansion within New Jersey, potentially leading to increased detention and deportation operations.
New Jersey’s Attorney General has expressed disappointment with the ruling, indicating that the state is weighing its next steps. This legal battle highlights the intricate balance of power between state and federal governments and the profound human impact of immigration policies. As the discussion continues, it remains a critical topic for New Jersey communities and a significant aspect of the state’s political landscape.

As the Garden State gears up for its 2025 gubernatorial election, political attention is zeroing in on what promises to be one of the most consequential races in recent New Jersey history. Meet the General Election Candidates

Mikie Sherrill (Democrat)
A former Navy pilot and federal prosecutor, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill represents New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District and has built her political brand around pragmatic governance. Often described as a moderate Democrat, Sherrill won her party’s primary with 34% of the vote, edging out a crowded field of prominent Democratic leaders.
Her campaign has emphasized tackling New Jersey’s skyrocketing cost of living, investing in infrastructure, and defending democratic institutions. She’s positioned herself as a problem-solver focused on bipartisan solutions, while also taking a firm stance against policies tied to former President Donald Trump. According to a recent Rutgers-Eagleton poll, Sherrill currently holds a lead over her Republican opponent.
Jack Ciattarelli (Republican)
Jack Ciattarelli is no stranger to statewide races. As the GOP’s 2021 nominee, he came within striking distance of unseating Governor Phil Murphy. Now, in 2025, Ciattarelli returns with a stronger campaign infrastructure and a clear message: “It’s time for big change.”
Winning the Republican primary with a commanding 68% of the vote, Ciattarelli has focused on issues like property tax reform, pension restructuring, and making New Jersey more affordable for working families. His running mate, Morris County Sheriff Jim Gannon, brings a law-and-order perspective to the ticket. Ciattarelli has also gained the endorsement of the New Jersey Retired Police and Firemen’s Association, a powerful signal of support from public safety professionals concerned about pension stability and inflation. You can read more about that endorsement in our Politics section.
Former Primary Contenders
Before Sherrill and Ciattarelli secured their nominations, the primary fields for both parties featured well-known political heavyweights:
Democratic Primary Candidates:
- Ras Baraka – Mayor of Newark, known for his focus on urban revitalization and community-based policing.
- Steve Fulop – Mayor of Jersey City, a progressive voice with a strong economic development record.
- Josh Gottheimer – Congressman from NJ’s 5th District, known for centrist policies and bipartisan outreach.
- Sean Spiller – President of the NJ Education Association, with a platform centered on public education and labor rights.
- Steve Sweeney – Former State Senate President, respected for his legislative experience and fiscal policy focus.
Republican Primary Candidates:
- Justin Barbera – A construction firm owner, bringing a business-first, outsider approach.
- Jon Bramnick – State Senator and seasoned legislator, offering a more moderate Republican viewpoint.
- Mario Kranjac – Lawyer and former Mayor of Englewood Cliffs.
- Bill Spadea – Former talk radio host with strong grassroots support and populist rhetoric.
The Big Issues Driving the 2025 Race
Whether you’re voting blue, red, or undecided, the issues at stake in this year’s gubernatorial contest cut across party lines:
- Property Taxes: New Jersey has some of the highest property taxes in the nation. Both candidates have vowed to take action—though their proposed solutions vary significantly.
- Cost of Living: Inflation, housing affordability, and healthcare costs continue to stretch household budgets. Ciattarelli emphasizes tax reform and spending cuts, while Sherrill promotes targeted investments and federal support.
- Public Safety and Pensions: The NJ Retired Police and Firemen’s Association’s endorsement of Ciattarelli underscores a major issue for public sector retirees—restoring Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs) that have been frozen since 2011. Their support hinges on Ciattarelli’s promise to address this issue if elected governor.
- National Politics: As much as this is a state-level election, national dynamics loom large. Sherrill has framed herself as a bulwark against Trumpism, while Ciattarelli has accepted an endorsement from former President Trump—placing each candidate clearly in alignment with their party’s national identity.

Optimism abounds for a September 15th return for a host of stars including Thomas Bordeleau (concussion), Nico Hischier (lower-body injury), Jesper Bratt (shoulder surgery), Brenden Dillon (neck injury), and Jack Hughes (shoulder surgery). Even young phenom Luke Hughes, also recovering from shoulder surgery, is expected to be fully prepared for training camp this fall. The return of these impactful players will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the team’s lineup.
Offseason Shake-Up: New Faces and Departures
The Devils have been anything but quiet on the trade and free agency fronts, signaling a clear intent to reshape the roster. Notable acquisitions include Jeremy Hanzel (from Nashville in exchange for Erik Haula and a pick) and Thomas Bordeleau (acquired from San Jose for Shane Bowers). The free agency market saw the Devils bring in a host of experienced and promising talent, including goaltender Jake Allen, forwards Cody Glass, Connor Brown, Evgenii Dadonov, and defensemen Calen Addison and Dennis Cholowski, along with forward Angus Crookshank and promising Arseni Gritsyuk.
Of course, with new arrivals come departures. Players like Nolan Foote (to Florida), Tomas Tatar (to Europe), and unrestricted free agents Brian Dumoulin, Daniel Sprong, and Isaac Poulter have moved on. These roster adjustments highlight Fitzgerald’s vision for the team and his proactive approach to optimizing the Devils’ competitive edge.
Behind the Bench: Coaching Carousel
The changes extend beyond the ice. The Devils’ coaching staff will see some new faces next season, as assistant coaches Ryan McGill and Chris Taylor, Head Video Coach Jerry Dineen, and Utica Comets assistant coach David Cunniff will not be returning. The search for their replacements is already underway, indicating a desire to bring in fresh perspectives and strategies to guide the team.
Drafting the Future: New Blood Joins the Ranks
The 2025 NHL Entry Draft was another opportunity for the Devils to infuse their prospect pool with future talent. The team selected seven promising players, including centers Conrad Fondrk and Mason Moe, wingers Ben Kevan and David Rozsíval, goaltender Trenten Bennett, and defenseman Sigge Holmgren. These young prospects represent the next wave of talent hoping to wear the Devils crest.
Prospects on the Horizon: Who’s Ready for the Big Show?
Speaking of prospects, the organization is buzzing about several young players who could make their NHL debuts this season. While Anton Silayev’s participation in Development Camp was unfortunately hampered by visa issues, other promising forwards like Lenni Hameenaho, Shane LaChance, and Cam Squires are generating significant excitement.
Lenni Hameenaho, a 20-year-old right winger drafted in the second round in 2023, boasts an impressive track record in the Finnish Liiga, with projections hinting at potential top-line capabilities. His seamless transition to the North American game will be closely watched, and many expect him to challenge for a roster spot right out of camp.
Then there’s Shane LaChance, a 6’4” power forward who could fill a crucial role in the Devils’ lineup. After a strong showing at Boston University and a glimpse of AHL action with the Utica Comets, LaChance brings a unique physical presence. While a fantastic training camp might fast-track him, he’s certainly one to keep an eye on as a potential mid-season call-up.
Rounding out the trio is Cam Squires, another 20-year-old winger drafted in the fourth round in 2023. Squires has been a dominant force in the QMJHL, showcasing strong offensive instincts. His consistent two-way play, coupled with his scoring touch in a brief stint with the Comets, makes him an intriguing long-term prospect for the organization.
