Summer Streets 2026: David Easton in Maplewood Village
A singer, songwriter, and keyboard player, David Easton’s talent and versatility are part of a genuine family legacy. His father was a composer, conductor, arranger, and pianist who studied under Paul Hindemith at Yale and wrote music for 20th Century Fox and NBC, while his great uncle Louis Silvers was an Oscar-winning composer behind the score for The Jazz Singer, the groundbreaking first talking movie, starring Al Jolson in 1927, and wrote the classic song April Showers. A longtime Maplewood resident and piano teacher in the area since 2006, Easton has performed everywhere from The Bitter End and Birdland in New York City to countless New Jersey stages, playing rock infused with funk and jazz in the vein of Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, and Jamiroquai. Original bassist and founding member of Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Bouchard, has called the David Easton Band exciting jazz-pop, sophisticated original tunes, sure to please. Bringing his band’s infectious blend of pop, rock, and soul to Maplewood Village’s Summer Streets series, Easton delivers a homegrown, high-energy set for the whole community.
