Smokey Robinson: Legacy of Love Tour

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Smokey Robinson founded The Miracles while still in high school, and the group became Berry Gordy’s very first vocal group, with Robinson himself suggesting Gordy start the Motown Records dynasty. Their recording of Robinson’s Shop Around became Motown’s first number one hit on the R&B singles chart. Robinson went on to pen hits for the Miracles including You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me, Ooo Baby Baby, The Tracks of My Tears, and Tears of a Clown, co-written with Stevie Wonder, while also writing and producing for other Motown greats including The Temptations, Mary Wells, and Marvin Gaye, contributing classics like My Girl and My Guy. He remained Vice President of Motown Records until the company was sold, shaping the label’s success alongside friend and mentor Berry Gordy. Robinson’s honors include the Grammy Living Legend Award, Kennedy Center Honors, the National Medal of Arts, and induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. With more than 4,000 songs to his credit across a 60-plus year career, the Legacy of Love Tour finds Robinson, now in his mid-80s, still thrilling sold-out audiences with his high tenor voice and impeccable timing.
