New Jersey Symphony: Mozart & Ravel
Podium powerhouse Valentina Peleggi makes her New Jersey Symphony debut with a kaleidoscopic program of childlike wonder, symphonic muscle, and dizzying virtuosity, offering enough warmth for the coldest January night. Ravel’s legendary orchestral color contrasts beautifully with Mozart’s classical structure, opening with the composer’s own beloved Mother Goose Suite alongside Anna Clyne’s Masquerade and Samuel Barber’s Symphony No. 1. Also making a Symphony debut is Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot, described by the Toronto Star as one of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime, who dazzles with Mozart’s final and most beloved violin concerto, the Fifth, nicknamed Turkish. A Juno-nominated phenom who made his orchestral solo debut at just eleven years old, Pouliot has since performed with orchestras across the world including the Philadelphia Orchestra and Montreal Symphony, and performs on a 1729 Guarneri del Gesu violin on generous loan from an anonymous donor.
