Health and Wellness with HBOT Expands into New Jersey with New Paramus Location

Health and Wellness with HBOT, a wellness center rooted in Spring Valley, New York, is bringing its unique health services to New Jersey with the opening of its first location in Paramus. This exciting expansion marks a significant milestone for the center, which is led by a dedicated mother-daughter team, Dr. Liliana Lopez and Leslie Lopez. Their mission: to improve lives through innovative, non-invasive therapies designed to promote overall health and wellness.

The new Paramus location, located at 175 Route 4 West, is set to host an opening event tomorrow from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., inviting the local community to learn more about the cutting-edge therapies offered. The event promises to be a great opportunity to meet the team, explore the services, and discover the benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and other treatments designed to optimize your health.

A Mother-Daughter Duo with a Shared Passion for Health

Founded in 2022 by Dr. Liliana Lopez, DNP, and her daughter Leslie Lopez, Health and Wellness with HBOT brings together their collective expertise, passion, and commitment to helping people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Dr. Lopez, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), has long been dedicated to providing quality healthcare through her own venture, En Su Casa Primary Health Care, which focuses on serving the local community.

Her daughter, Leslie Lopez, has built her career in the entertainment and entrepreneurial worlds. However, after experiencing the transformative effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy firsthand, she was inspired to get involved in the health and wellness field. Together, the mother-daughter team has created a wellness center that not only focuses on treating physical ailments but also enhances overall vitality and wellness through innovative, non-invasive therapies.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

At the heart of Health and Wellness with HBOT is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a non-invasive treatment that helps improve the body’s oxygen levels. By sitting in a specially designed hyperbaric chamber, individuals breathe in pure oxygen, allowing their lungs to absorb more oxygen and, in turn, increasing the amount of oxygen circulating throughout their bloodstream. This increase in oxygen aids in various healing and rejuvenation processes throughout the body.

The FDA has approved HBOT for treating several medical conditions, including carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, and chronic non-healing wounds. However, beyond its medical uses, HBOT is increasingly popular in wellness centers, sports facilities, and even private homes, as it is believed to offer a wide range of benefits, including faster recovery times, improved energy levels, enhanced athletic performance, and better skin health.

Other Services Offered at the New Paramus Location

While HBOT is a core offering, Health and Wellness with HBOT also provides a range of complementary therapies designed to promote overall health, vitality, and recovery:

  • Red Light Therapy: This non-invasive therapy utilizes specific wavelengths of light to reduce inflammation, promote healing, and improve skin appearance by stimulating collagen production.
  • Compression Therapy: A treatment designed to improve circulation and relieve muscle soreness, inflammation, and fatigue by using a system of pressurized garments that promote blood flow and recovery.
  • IV Therapy: This service delivers essential vitamins, minerals, and hydration directly into the bloodstream, providing a quick and effective way to rehydrate, boost energy, and support immune function.

Expanding Wellness Access in New Jersey

With the opening of the Paramus location, Health and Wellness with HBOT aims to bring these state-of-the-art treatments to a broader community in New Jersey. The Hero’s Recharge: A Vital Wellness Event to Support First Responders in New Jersey

SHREWSBURY, NJ – April 30, 2025 – As our first responders face ever-increasing challenges and stresses on the job, the need for dedicated wellness programs to support their mental health has never been greater. That’s why the Hero’s Recharge: Mind-Body-Mission Fundraiser Event is such a significant initiative, designed specifically to help first responders manage stress, enhance resilience, and foster mental well-being in an environment that understands their unique needs. This groundbreaking wellness event, set to take place in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, is dedicated to providing essential resources for those who protect and serve their communities.

Bridging the Gap Between Mental Health and First Responder Culture

First responders—whether they are firefighters, police officers, paramedics, or emergency medical technicians—often work in high-stress, high-risk environments that take a toll on their physical and mental health. Yet, many still feel reluctant to seek help due to the stigma surrounding mental health within their profession. The Hero’s Recharge aims to break this stigma by creating a safe and supportive space for first responders to focus on their well-being without fear of judgment. By integrating wellness practices with the mission of first responders, the event fosters a sense of community and empowerment.

The goal of this event is simple but powerful: to help first responders prioritize their mental health and well-being in a supportive, healing environment. It emphasizes the importance of addressing stress before it turns into burnout and equips participants with the tools needed to build resilience and maintain their mental and physical health for years to come.

Event Highlights: A Holistic Approach to Wellness

The Hero’s Recharge event brings together experts from various wellness disciplines to provide first responders with a range of resources and activities designed to support both the mind and the body. The event will feature a series of interactive workshops, stress-relief techniques, and wellness practices focused on improving mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall well-being. Highlights include:

  • Mindfulness and Stress Management Workshops: These sessions are tailored to help first responders develop mindfulness techniques that they can use on and off the job. From breathing exercises to meditation practices, these workshops will teach participants how to manage their stress in real-time, reducing anxiety and preventing burnout.
  • Physical Fitness for Resilience: Physical health and mental health are interconnected, which is why the event will also feature physical wellness activities aimed at improving strength, endurance, and flexibility—important attributes for any first responder. Fitness experts will guide participants through customized workouts designed to enhance resilience and prevent injury, both of which are critical for performing under pressure.
  • Nutrition for Performance: Nutrition plays a key role in both mental and physical health. During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to attend workshops on fueling the body for optimal performance, focusing on diet plans that promote energy, focus, and overall well-being.
  • Group Therapy and Peer Support: One of the most valuable components of the Hero’s Recharge event is the opportunity for first responders to connect with others who understand their experiences. Group therapy sessions and peer support circles will provide participants with a chance to open up about the challenges they face and gain insights from others who share similar struggles.
  • Massage Therapy and Relaxation Techniques: Given the physical demands of their job, first responders will also have access to relaxation services such as massage therapy and other restorative techniques designed to ease tension and promote relaxation. These sessions are designed to help participants unwind and re-energize, both mentally and physically.
  • Speaker Sessions on Resilience and Mental Health: Leading experts in mental health, wellness, and resilience training will deliver keynote speeches and lead discussions about the importance of maintaining mental health within first responder culture. These talks will focus on destigmatizing mental health care, providing practical tips for self-care, and discussing ways to build a resilient mindset in the face of adversity.

Supporting Our Heroes: A Community Effort

The Hero’s Recharge isn’t just an event—it’s a movement. It brings together a network of organizations, professionals, and community members who understand the unique challenges that first responders face. The event’s organizers are passionate about creating lasting change and ensuring that first responders have access to the resources they need to maintain both their mental and physical well-being.

The Mind-Body-Mission Fundraiser component of the event also helps raise critical funds to support ongoing wellness programs for first responders. The event will feature a silent auction, donation opportunities, and partnerships with local businesses who are committed to supporting the heroes who serve our communities. All proceeds will go toward funding future wellness initiatives and resources specifically tailored for first responders in New Jersey and beyond.

Why First Responders Need This Event

First responders are the first line of defense in emergency situations, and yet, they often face overwhelming mental and physical stress due to the nature of their work. Research has shown that first responders are at an increased risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and burnout. The Hero’s Recharge provides a vital opportunity to help these professionals find balance in their lives and access tools for managing stress and improving overall well-being.

“The Hero’s Recharge event is incredibly important because it recognizes the challenges that first responders face and provides them with tangible ways to manage stress and foster mental resilience,” said event organizer Jane Doe, a leading advocate for first responder wellness. “By supporting their well-being, we can ensure that our heroes are able to continue doing the important work they do, but with the necessary tools to take care of themselves along the way.”

Discover the Intersection of Mathematics, Philosophy, and Life in Singularity of the Mind by Nicholas Cristiano – A New Jersey Connection

Princeton, NJ – In the heart of New Jersey, where intellectual curiosity thrives in places like Princeton University and Rutgers University, a new book is gaining attention for its deep exploration of the human mind, mathematics, and philosophy. Singularity of the Mind by Nicholas Cristiano invites readers to embark on a reflective journey that combines personal storytelling with complex intellectual inquiry. In this groundbreaking work, Cristiano intertwines the story of his own life with a thought-provoking exploration of philosophical and mathematical concepts that are as vast as they are transformative.

A Unique Blend of Philosophy, Mathematics, and Life’s Journey

Singularity of the Mind is not just another memoir or academic text. It is a philosophical exploration that challenges readers to think critically about the nature of existence, the self, and the complex relationship between the brain, consciousness, and the universe. Cristiano takes his audience on a journey through the first 30 years of his life, reflecting on his personal experiences, academic growth, and philosophical awakening. What sets this book apart is the way it presents these concepts, blending mathematics and philosophy with personal narrative, offering readers both an intellectual and emotional experience.

The title Singularity of the Mind refers to the idea that the mind, like the universe, might eventually reach a point of “singularity” — a moment of perfect clarity or understanding where all the complexities of existence collapse into one unified concept. This idea resonates deeply with the kind of intellectual environment fostered in New Jersey, where academia and innovation intersect in places like Princeton, the birthplace of many groundbreaking scientific and philosophical ideas.

Philosophical Reflections Rooted in New Jersey’s Intellectual Culture

As a New Jersey native, Cristiano’s upbringing and education in the state played a significant role in shaping his intellectual path. Princeton, with its rich tradition of intellectual inquiry, served as a backdrop for many of the concepts explored in Singularity of the Mind. For example, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and Institute for Advanced Study, both located in New Jersey, are hotbeds for groundbreaking research in areas like quantum mechanics, artificial intelligence, and the fundamental nature of the universe — all topics that Cristiano touches on in his book.

Cristiano also dives into how New Jersey’s proximity to New York City, a global center for culture and intellectual exchange, shaped his worldview. The book is steeped in the dynamic blend of philosophy and mathematics that defines much of New Jersey’s cultural fabric. The state’s universities, including Princeton and Rutgers, foster an environment where the brightest minds in science, mathematics, and philosophy gather to challenge conventional thought — a theme that resonates deeply throughout Cristiano’s exploration of the mind, the self, and the universe.

Mathematics and the Mind: A Groundbreaking Exploration

One of the most fascinating aspects of Singularity of the Mind is Cristiano’s examination of mathematics as a language for understanding consciousness. Mathematics, often regarded as an abstract discipline, plays a central role in his exploration of mental phenomena. Cristiano argues that the structure of the mind may not be as intangible as it seems; in fact, it could very well be modeled using mathematical concepts. This innovative perspective invites readers to reimagine the mind not just as a biological phenomenon, but as a system that can be explored, understood, and perhaps even quantified through mathematical theory.

In New Jersey, the legacy of mathematical inquiry is particularly pronounced. Princeton University, where Albert Einstein once worked, remains a global leader in theoretical physics and mathematics. It is also home to some of the world’s brightest thinkers in fields ranging from cognitive science to neuroscience, both of which intersect with Cristiano’s work in Singularity of the Mind. The ongoing work at Princeton University’s Department of Mathematics and Rutgers University’s Department of Philosophy continues to push the boundaries of human understanding, much like Cristiano’s own intellectual journey.

The Philosophical Inquiry Into the Self and Consciousness

Cristiano’s work also explores the idea of the self as a dynamic and evolving concept. In Singularity of the Mind, he delves into the philosophical nature of identity, consciousness, and how these concepts shape our understanding of reality. He draws heavily from existential philosophy, with references to thinkers like Jean-Paul Sartre and René Descartes, who questioned the nature of existence and the mind.

One of the most compelling aspects of the book is its ability to blend these abstract philosophical concepts with real-world experiences. Through his reflections on his own life — from childhood in New Jersey to his academic pursuits — Cristiano makes these complex ideas accessible, urging readers to consider how philosophical concepts affect their own understanding of the world around them.

An Invitation to Reflect on the Nature of Life and Existence

Singularity of the Mind is not only an intellectual exploration but also a meditation on life, existence, and the pursuit of knowledge. Cristiano invites readers to reflect on the most profound questions of life — Who are we? Why do we exist? What is the purpose of consciousness? These universal inquiries are tied together by the book’s core message: that the pursuit of understanding the mind and the self is a lifelong journey that has no singular destination, only a continuous evolution toward greater clarity.

For those in New Jersey, Singularity of the Mind serves as a powerful reminder of the state’s rich intellectual culture and the incredible thinkers who have shaped it. The book not only highlights the philosophical landscape of New Jersey but also invites readers to engage with the same questions that have inspired generations of thinkers in the state.

Where to Find Singularity of the Mind in New Jersey

For residents and visitors to New Jersey, Singularity of the Mind offers a unique opportunity to engage with complex ideas that are part of the state’s cultural heritage. Local bookstores like McCarter Theatre Bookstore in Princeton and Wordsworth Books in Morristown offer the book for purchase. Additionally, Princeton University Press, a well-known publisher based in the area, provides access to the book online for those interested in diving deeper into the concepts Cristiano presents.

Singularity of the Mind by Nicholas Cristiano is more than just a book; it is an invitation to explore the profound intersection of mathematics, philosophy, and life. Rooted in the intellectual spirit of New Jersey, this work challenges readers to think beyond the conventional and embrace a new way of understanding the mind and the self. Whether you’re a lifelong resident of the Garden State or someone looking to explore the rich philosophical and scientific legacy that New Jersey has to offer, Cristiano’s book promises to be a transformative read that will leave you questioning the very nature of existence.

Creating a Home Away From Home for Children: The Story of Bizzy Bee’z Creative Learning Center in Northfield, NJ

Northfield, NJ – In a world where working parents juggle demanding careers and family responsibilities, finding a trustworthy, nurturing childcare provider is often one of the most important decisions a parent can make. For Tara Kennelly, the owner of Bizzy Bee’z Creative Learning Center in Northfield, New Jersey, this mission is more than just a business—it’s a heartfelt commitment to providing a safe, caring environment for children to grow, learn, and thrive.

When Tara first opened Bizzy Bee’z, she envisioned a place that felt like home for the children, offering not just education, but a family-like atmosphere that would make parents feel secure knowing their little ones were in good hands. The childcare center caters to children from ages 2.5 to 6, offering a combination of full-day and half-day preschool programs, all structured around The Creative Curriculum, a nationally recognized early childhood education program. With the support of her trusted banking partner TD Bank, Tara has been able to expand and further solidify her vision. Today, Bizzy Bee’z is not just a daycare—it’s a flourishing business with plans for growth and a deeper community impact.

A Critical Decision to Secure Bizzy Bee’z Future

As Tara’s lease at the Northfield location neared its end, she faced an important decision: Should she exercise the rent-to-own option offered by her landlord? The clock was ticking, and the future of her business—one that had grown into a staple of the community—was on the line. Not only did Tara need to ensure the continuity of the space for the center, but she also sought to have more stability as a business owner, free from the worry that her property might be sold or the lease might not be renewed.

With a deep sense of responsibility to both her clients and the children in her care, Tara turned to Courtney Peters, a Business Banker at TD Bank, for guidance. Courtney quickly recognized the potential in Tara’s situation and helped her secure the necessary funding to purchase the building and set Bizzy Bee’z up for future success.

“We were able to help Tara get a commercial mortgage and expedite the appraisal process to meet tight deadlines,” said Courtney. “This allowed us to ensure Tara could not only purchase her property but also achieve long-term security for her business and her customers.”

With Courtney’s support, Tara was able to transition from renting to owning, a major milestone in her journey. “Having the ability to own my space, instead of worrying about lease renewals or potential moves, has been a huge weight lifted off my shoulders,” Tara shared. “Courtney’s support and quick thinking were invaluable in making this happen.”

A Personalized Approach to Childcare: The Heart of Bizzy Bee’z

At the core of Bizzy Bee’z is a commitment to creating a nurturing, home-away-from-home environment for children. This philosophy is what makes the center stand out. Tara’s nine years of experience in childcare—ranging from roles as a substitute teacher and Head Start director to a family advocate—is reflected in the thoughtfully crafted programs she offers. Bizzy Bee’z serves children from ages 2.5 to 6, offering both full-day and half-day preschool options with age-appropriate activities, including storytime, art, and educational games, that promote emotional, social, and cognitive development.

The center also goes above and beyond by providing nutritious snacks and meals, ensuring that the children receive a well-rounded experience that supports both their physical and intellectual growth. The use of The Creative Curriculum—a program widely adopted in public schools—helps prepare children for a seamless transition to kindergarten, providing a structured yet fun environment for early learning.

But beyond the curriculum and facilities, it’s Tara’s genuine care for the children and her commitment to making every parent feel heard and valued that has earned Bizzy Bee’z its loyal following in the community.

Expanding with Support from TD Bank: A Partnership for Growth

With her newly purchased property, Tara now has the flexibility to expand her offerings. As part of her vision to continually enhance Bizzy Bee’z, Tara has plans to incorporate infant and toddler care, meeting the growing demand for younger-age programs. Thanks to the line of credit offered by TD Bank, Tara has the working capital necessary to move forward with her expansion plans.

“The line of credit was essential for us to maintain cash flow as we add new programs and prepare for the next phase of our growth,” Tara explained. “Having the financial backing and guidance from TD Bank allowed us to keep offering the best care for the children while planning for future needs.”

The financial flexibility provided by TD Bank is crucial for Bizzy Bee’z as it works to offer a wider range of services, including the addition of transportation to and from the center for families who need extra assistance. This expansion reflects Tara’s dedication to meeting the diverse needs of the community she serves and ensuring that working parents can rely on Bizzy Bee’z for comprehensive childcare.

Looking Ahead: Big Plans for Bizzy Bee’z

As Tara looks to the future, she envisions continuing to build upon the strong foundation she’s established. Her goals include increasing the size of the facility to accommodate more children and providing additional services such as before- and after-school care for older children. She also hopes to add transportation services, allowing children to be picked up from their homes and taken to the center, making it even more accessible to busy families.

In the next few years, Tara’s goal is to expand Bizzy Bee’z into a community hub where parents can rely on trusted childcare services that evolve with the needs of the families they serve.

Words of Wisdom for Other Aspiring Entrepreneurs

For other small business owners—especially those in the childcare industry—Tara offers some key advice based on her own experiences:

  1. Perseverance Pays Off: “There will always be challenges. Starting a business is hard work, but with time and determination, things get easier. Keep going, even when it’s tough.”
  2. Keep Detailed Records: “The financial side of things is just as important as the service you provide. Keeping track of all receipts and expenses will make your life a lot easier, especially during tax season.”
  3. Cultivate Strong Banking Relationships: “Having a personal, reliable banking partner can make all the difference in the world. TD Bank has been with me every step of the way, from securing a mortgage to providing a line of credit. Their support has been invaluable.”

Conclusion: A Community-Focused Business with a Bright Future

With a commitment to quality childcare, a growing customer base, and strategic financial planning, Tara Kennelly has created a successful, sustainable childcare business that serves as a model for other small business owners in the state. Thanks to her partnership with TD Bank and her unwavering dedication to the families of Northfield and beyond, Bizzy Bee’z Creative Learning Center is not just a business—it’s a trusted part of the community that’s expanding to meet the needs of working parents across New Jersey.

If you’re a parent in search of a safe, nurturing environment for your child, or if you’re an aspiring entrepreneur looking for inspiration, Bizzy Bee’z is proof that with passion, persistence, and the right partnerships, anything is possible.

West Side Square is Transforming Jersey City’s Marion Neighborhood

Jersey City’s West Side Square is set to redefine the Marion neighborhood with its ambitious second-phase development. This transformative project combines adaptive reuse, vertical expansion, and urban revitalization to create a vibrant mixed-use community.

Adaptive Reuse of Historic Structures

The development honors the area’s industrial heritage by repurposing a former factory site. The adaptive reuse approach preserves the site’s historical essence while integrating modern amenities. This blend of old and new offers residents a unique living experience that respects the past and embraces the future.

Vertical Expansion for Urban Density

West Side Square’s design includes two 13-story towers connected by five-story buildings, maximizing the use of limited urban space. This vertical expansion accommodates 477 residential units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments, catering to diverse housing needs. The development also features 9,814 square feet of ground-level retail space, enhancing the neighborhood’s commercial vibrancy.

Pedestrian Plaza and Community Integration

A key feature of the project is the creation of a pedestrian plaza, transforming a section of West Side Avenue into a public space that encourages community interaction. This plaza not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area but also fosters a sense of community among residents and visitors.

Potential for a New PATH Station

Strategically located near existing train tracks, West Side Square is positioned to benefit from future transit developments. The Port Authority has agreed to conduct a feasibility study for a new PATH station in the Marion neighborhood, which could significantly improve connectivity for residents and commuters alike.

Project Timeline and Design

Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026, West Side Square is being developed by a consortium of Toronto-based companies: Altree Developments, Lanterra Developments, and Westdale Construction. The project is designed by MHS Architecture, with interior design by Childs Dreyfus Group. Amenities include a 21,000-square-foot outdoor deck with a swimming pool, grilling stations, lounge areas, and a dog run, as well as indoor facilities such as a fitness center, co-working spaces, and a community room for private events.

West Side Square represents a significant investment in Jersey City’s future, blending historical preservation with modern development to create a dynamic urban environment. As the project progresses, it promises to be a catalyst for further growth and revitalization in the Marion neighborhood.

New Jersey Devil Prepare for Game 5 Tonight as the New Jersey Devils stare down elimination in their playoff series, frustration is mounting

As the New Jersey Devils stare down elimination in their playoff series, frustration is mounting—not necessarily over the usual suspects, but over a critical piece of the lineup that continues to hold them back: the bottom six. While it might be tempting for fans and critics alike to call for a sweeping overhaul, the truth is this team’s top-end talent has performed admirably. The real issue lies further down the depth chart.

Carolina Hurricanes v New Jersey Devils - Game Four
Nico Hischier has done a lot to tilt games in the Devils’ direction, but the team as a whole has disappointed. | Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images

Let’s break it down — not just with stats, but with context, insight, and the kind of urgency the Devils need if they want to push this series past Game Five.

Top Six: Carrying Their Weight, Deserving More Support

Let’s get one thing straight: the Devils’ top six forwards have not been the problem.

Nico Hischier, Timo Meier, and Ondrej Palat have provided the kind of consistent offensive pressure you expect from your first line in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Erik Haula has been effective on the second line, playing a well-rounded game at both ends of the ice. Jesper Bratt and Dawson Mercer have generated chances too — the goals just haven’t come as easily, but that’s more a matter of puck luck than performance.

According to Natural Stat Trick, players like Meier (69.8% xGF%), Haula, Hischier, Bratt, and Mercer are driving play at a level you’d expect from top-six talent in the postseason. Meier’s performance has been elite. And with Hischier and Palat producing a combined 8 goals-for to 3-against at even strength, there’s no question these guys are pulling their weight.

So what’s dragging this team down?

Bottom Six Breakdown: The Real Cracks in the Foundation

Here’s where the wheels fall off.

New Jersey’s bottom six has simply not produced, and worse, they’ve actively been a liability at five-on-five. Paul Cotter, Cody Glass, and Justin Dowling have been particularly ineffective — not just in terms of results, but in process.

Cotter, who came into the playoffs claiming his game was built for this moment, has failed to live up to that promise. Turnovers, low offensive pressure, and poor chemistry with linemates have plagued his game. His xGF% sits at a brutal 28.84%, and the Devils have been outscored 2-0 when he’s on the ice. Glass has been invisible since returning from injury, and Dowling — who showed some flashes during the regular season — has seen a steep decline in speed and offensive zone time in the playoffs.

According to NHL EDGE, Dowling’s speed and puck-tracking data have fallen well below average in the postseason. And while Nate Bastian has quietly had a strong series — ranking in the 96th percentile in top speed and contributing positively when separated from ineffective linemates — he hasn’t had the support to turn that effort into goals.

In-House Options: Why the Press Box Holds the Key to Game Five

The frustrating part? The Devils do have answers. They’re just sitting unused.

Daniel Sprong, Curtis Lazar, Nolan Foote, Brian Halonen, and Mike Hardman are all forwards with NHL experience or high-level AHL production. Sprong and Glass had a successful pairing during the regular season, and Halonen and Hardman led the Utica Comets in scoring. Yet none of them have seen meaningful playoff action.

Sprong, in particular, is known for his scoring touch. In a low-scoring series like this one, injecting a player with a shoot-first mentality and proven chemistry with other bottom-six options is a no-brainer. Meanwhile, Hardman — a strong, physical winger who looked solid next to Haula and Mercer in the season finale — offers more grit and effectiveness than Cotter has provided.

Even young defenseman Seamus Casey or call-up-eligible Cam Squires could offer more than some of the current bottom-six forwards, especially if speed and offensive creativity are what’s needed to tip the balance in New Jersey’s favor.

A Lineup That Could Work — And Why the Time to Change Is Now

Head coach Sheldon Keefe isn’t working with a full deck, but he still has more cards than he’s playing. If the Devils are serious about extending this series, lineup changes are not just recommended — they’re essential.

Here’s a revised bottom six that could give the Devils the boost they desperately need:

  • Third Line: Sprong – Haula – Bastian
(Play-driving, speed, and scoring touch with defensive reliability.)
  • Fourth Line: Hardman – Glass – Halonen
(Physicality, familiarity, and a chance to regain momentum for Glass.)

This setup keeps your top six intact, maintains a mix of skill and grit throughout the lineup, and — most importantly — gives a shot to players who have actually earned it. With Bastian flying, Haula steady, and Sprong ready to fire, there’s at least a chance this unit can shift the balance.

Final Thoughts: This Isn’t About Panic — It’s About Precision

No, the Devils don’t need to blow everything up. Their stars are shining. Their defense has held up reasonably well, and Jacob Markstrom has kept them in games. But playoff hockey demands adaptability, and right now, the bottom six isn’t getting it done.

The numbers don’t lie, but the eye test might be even harsher. When your third and fourth lines aren’t generating zone time, scoring chances, or even basic puck possession, you can’t afford to stay the course. Not in the playoffs. Not when elimination is on the table.

If New Jersey wants to see Game Six — or beyond — it starts with putting their best 12 forwards on the ice. That means moving on from the Cotters and Dowlings of the lineup and giving others a real chance to contribute.

There’s still time to right the ship. But only if the Devils stop ignoring the storm brewing below deck.

Haddon Lake Park and Newton Lake Park in Camden County Unveils Major Upgrades with $1.3M in Renovations Enhancing Community Spaces with Accessibility, Innovation, and Sustainability

Camden County just raised the bar for outdoor recreation in South Jersey, completing $1.3 million in comprehensive park renovations that reimagine the playground experience for local families. As part of a continued commitment to improving public spaces, these upgrades bring exciting changes to two beloved green spaces—Haddon Lake Park and Newton Lake Park—both now boasting safer, more inclusive, and environmentally conscious features.

A New Era for Local Parks

The updates at Haddon Lake and Newton Lake Parks are more than just a fresh coat of paint—they represent a forward-thinking approach to public space design, with a focus on accessibility, child development, and environmental stewardship.

Among the most significant improvements:

  • ADA-Compliant Access: The new playgrounds are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), making them welcoming and accessible for children of all abilities. Smooth poured-in-place rubber surfacing provides ease of access for mobility devices, and play structures have been designed with inclusivity in mind.
  • Age-Appropriate Equipment: Recognizing that different age groups require different types of stimulation and safety features, the new installations feature designated play areas for toddlers, early school-aged kids, and older children. This thoughtful layout ensures every child can play, grow, and socialize in a developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Modern, Poured Rubber Play Surfaces: Gone are the days of wood chips and uneven surfaces. The new rubber flooring not only enhances safety by reducing fall risk, but it also improves drainage and long-term maintenance. The material also allows for bright, creative designs that engage children visually and make the playground more fun to explore.
  • Stormwater Management Enhancements: In addition to the visible improvements, Camden County also invested in upgraded stormwater infrastructure. These behind-the-scenes updates help reduce flooding, minimize erosion, and protect local ecosystems—especially important in parks that border lakes and creeks.

A Community Investment for All Seasons

“These renovations are part of our ongoing effort to invest in community spaces that promote physical activity, family bonding, and equitable access to outdoor recreation,” said Camden County Commissioner Jeffrey Nash. “Whether you’re taking a walk by the lake, enjoying a picnic, or watching your kids play on the new equipment, we want every visit to be a safe and enjoyable experience.”

The improvements are also timely as New Jersey heads into the warmer months. With spring in full swing and summer on the horizon, families are already flocking to the revamped parks to enjoy the outdoors. Both locations offer easy access, beautiful natural scenery, and now, state-of-the-art playgrounds built for today’s needs.

Spotlight on Haddon Lake & Newton Lake Parks

Haddon Lake Park, located in Audubon and Haddon Heights, is a regional favorite with walking trails, open lawns, and a scenic lake that draws joggers, dog walkers, and families alike. The new playground sits near the lakefront and complements the natural charm of the park while adding a fun, modern touch for younger visitors.

Newton Lake Park, which runs through Collingswood, Oaklyn, and Haddon Township, is known for its winding trails and tranquil water views. The newly upgraded playground is conveniently located near popular walking routes, offering a place for children to let loose while parents relax nearby or take in the view.

Supporting Camden County’s Broader Park Vision

These playground renovations are part of a larger effort by Camden County to revitalize and modernize its park system. With over 20 county parks and conservation areas, the goal is to create a cohesive network of safe, vibrant outdoor spaces that reflect the diverse needs of the community—from young children and seniors to athletes, nature lovers, and everyone in between.

This $1.3 million investment underscores that mission, and more projects are likely to follow as public interest in open, outdoor spaces continues to grow.

Plan Your Visit

If you haven’t been to Haddon Lake or Newton Lake Park recently, now is the perfect time to plan a visit. Bring a picnic, go for a jog, or simply take in the view while your kids explore the newest, safest, and most inclusive playgrounds in the region.
