An exciting world premiere is coming to Two River Theater this November with the co-production of “The Monsters: A Sibling Love Story.” This powerful new play, written and directed by acclaimed storyteller Ngozi Anyanwu, promises to be a moving and unique theatrical experience.
The story follows Lil, who has been watching her older brother Big from a distance as he finds success in the local Mixed Martial Arts circuit. When she suddenly shows up on his doorstep, the stage is set for a gripping tale of family, resentment, and a difficult journey toward reconnection. “The Monsters” is a deep exploration of sibling love and the personal “demons” we all wrestle with, blending intense storytelling with raw emotional power.
This world premiere brings together a stacked cast and creative team. The production features the talents of Okieriete Onaodowan, a Grammy Award-winning actor known for originating the roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in the Broadway smash hit, Hamilton. He is joined by Aigner Mizzelle, a multi-talented creative who originated the role of Latrice in the Broadway production of Chicken & Biscuits. With such an incredible cast and the visionary direction of Ngozi Anyanwu, who has been celebrated for her work on plays like Good Grief, this show is a must-see.
“The Monsters” is a collaboration between Two River Theater and the prestigious Manhattan Theatre Club, a partnership that highlights the show’s significance and its journey from New Jersey to New York. Don’t miss your chance to see this compelling new work at the Marion Huber Theater.
