Women in Media–Newark’s 16th Annual International Film Festival – A Global Celebration of Women’s Voices in Film

July 31 @ 08:00 August 3 @ 17:00

Now underway in Newark, New Jersey, the 16th Annual Women in Media–Newark International Film Festival invites audiences to experience a compelling lineup of films centered on the strength, creativity, and resilience of women around the world. This signature cultural event uplifts stories often left untold—placing women’s perspectives front and center.

A Mission Rooted in Empowerment and Equality

At its heart, the festival is committed to spotlighting films by and about women, with a strong emphasis on justice, equity, and the transformative power of storytelling. Through a powerful mix of narratives, documentaries, and shorts, the event addresses urgent global topics such as:

  • Migration and displacement
  • Gender-based violence
  • Human sexuality and identity
  • Mental health awareness
  • Child marriage and women’s rights

By fostering dialogue around these pressing issues, the festival serves as a platform to challenge stereotypes, shift public perception, and advocate for stronger representation of women in the film industry.
