Two Stages, Endless Talent
Festivalgoers will enjoy two live music stages, each featuring a lineup of internationally renowned jazz performers:
- Greg Murphy “The Fusicians” (1:30–2:40 PM, Main Stage) – Chicago-born pianist Greg Murphy has been a cornerstone of New York City jazz since the 1980s. Known for his 22-year collaboration with legendary drummer Rashied Ali and performances with Ornette Coleman and Carlos Santana, Murphy brings decades of experience and innovation to the stage. His 2019 album Bright Idea reached #1 on the JazzWeek charts, showcasing his mastery of contemporary jazz piano.
- Kahlil Kwame Bell and Friends (2:30–3:45 PM, Division Street Stage) – Percussionist Kahlil Kwame Bell blends jazz, rock, hip hop, world music, and European classical styles. Having performed on over 150 albums, including Grammy-nominated projects, Bell’s artistry demonstrates the unity of cultures through rhythm and improvisation.
- Abena Koomson-Davis Quintet featuring Steve Davis (3:00–4:10 PM, Main Stage) – Trombonist Steve Davis, a leading voice in jazz, joins powerhouse vocalist Abena Koomson-Davis, known for her work with Stevie Wonder, Carly Simon, and the Resistance Revival Chorus. Together, they deliver a dynamic set highlighting virtuosity, groove, and improvisational brilliance.
- Dom Palombi’s Game Night (4:15–5:30 PM, Division Street Stage) – Drummer and composer Dom Palombi brings a modern flair to the festival with his ensemble, blending jazz, funk, rock, and more. A Rutgers University alumnus, Palombi’s performances are engaging, energetic, and technically masterful.
- Jon Faddis & Next Gen Quintet (4:30–5:45 PM, Main Stage) – Trumpet legend Jon Faddis, mentored by Dizzy Gillespie, rounds out the day with his electrifying quintet. Faddis, a noted educator and conductor, brings blistering solos, intricate melodies, and spontaneous interplay that enthralls audiences of all ages.
Art, Food, and Festivities
Beyond the music, the festival showcases an Art Market and live painting demonstrations on Division Street, featuring local and regional artists with pieces available for purchase. Visitors can enjoy food trucks on Grove Street serving everything from gourmet street fare to classic festival snacks. For those 21 and older, Verve Restaurant offers a wine and beer garden with light lunches to enjoy while soaking in the sounds of the festival.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfortable seating, as the event takes place entirely on the Somerset County Courthouse Green. Picnics are welcome, but outside alcohol is not permitted—cans or plastic bottles only.
Parking is free in all municipal lots and on nearby streets, with East Main Street and Grove Street closed to vehicles during the festival.
