If you don’t have a fabric tape measure or can’t do a chest measurement, if it’s a gift for example do the following;
take a similar style garment that you know fits the person – i.e. t-shirt and lay it on a flat surface.
Measure across the back just below the armpits.
Then double it. If it measures 18” then that would be a 36” chest.
