DESCRIPTION:Musician\, Songwriter\, Vocalist\, and Educator April May Webb hails from Newton\, Kansas. April May’s musical approach is diversely influenced but is rooted in jazz. April May is the first African American female to graduate from The William Paterson University Jazz Education program\, where she honed her craft under the guidance of the late great pianist Mulgrew Miller.\nApril May is the WINNER of the 13th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Her captivating voice has graced nationally syndicated televised specials like “Sounds of Summer” and “An American Christmas” alongside The Boardwalk Jazz Band. She was a lead vocalist in the acclaimed play “Sounding Board” by internationally renowned artist Tschabalala Self.\nApril May’s commitment to excellence in jazz earned her recognition as a recipient of Chamber Music America’s performance plus grant with her jazz ensemble “Sounds of A&R\,” she continues to make waves as a Spring 2023 Jazz Road Touring Grant awardee. April May was chosen as a 2023 Woodshed Network recipient\, an initiative by the legendary jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater. Additionally\, her achievements were celebrated with induction into her hometown’s Newton Music Hall of Fame.\nAs a co-founder of the jazz ensemble Sounds of A&R\, also known as S.O.A.R.\, April May has played a pivotal role in its success. In 2019\, the group received the esteemed “Best Group” title at the NYC Reader’s Jazz Awards\, presented by Hot House Jazz Magazine and Jazzmobile. Their single “Horizon” charted in the top 20 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Charts\, and in 2021\, SOAR released their third studio album\, “Questions Left Unanswered\,” which soared to #12 on The National Jazz Week Charts. The group’s influence continues to grow as they were selected to represent the United States as U.S. Cultural Ambassadors\, embarking on a transformative tour across two South Pacific countries in 2023.\nJazz on a Sunday Afternoon is made possible through funding from the Wintrode Family Foundation\, the Ocean County College Foundation\, and support from the New Jersey Jazz Society.

DESCRIPTION:Shaun Cassidy is an American writer\, producer\, actor and singer. After originally making his name as a performer\, Cassidy went on to create\, write\, and produce a number of critically acclaimed television series including AMERICAN GOTHIC (produced with Sam Raimi)\, ROAR (starring Heath Ledger)\, COLD CASE\, COVER ME\, THE AGENCY\, INVASION\, and EMERALD CITY. Cassidy most recently spent five years as executive producer and writer for the hit NBC/NETFLIX series NEW AMSTERDAM. \nThe son of Tony award winning actor Jack Cassidy and Academy award winner Shirley Jones (and half-brother of the late singer/actor David Cassidy)\, Shaun grew up in Los Angeles and New York City. While still in high school\, he signed a contract with Warner Brothers records. This led to three multi-platinum albums and numerous top ten hits including the number #1 DA DOO RON RON\, THAT’S ROCK N’ ROLL\, HEY DEANIE\, and DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC. Cassidy received a Grammy nomination for his efforts and performed at every major arena in the country including Houston’s Astrodome and New York’s Madison Square Garden. Almost concurrently\, he starred in the ABC television series THE HARDY BOYS MYSTERIES. Later\, while appearing for over a year on Broadway in the hit musical BLOOD BROTHERS\, Shaun wrote his first television pilot\, AMERICAN GOTHIC. When the show debuted\, The New York Times called it “The most original new show of the season.” \nFrom 2020-2024\, Cassidy took his self-penned music and storytelling show\, THE MAGIC OF A MIDNIGHT SKY\, to the stage\, playing to SRO crowds nationwide and selling out five consecutive nights at New York’s Fifty-Four below. The critic from Broadway World noted: “We haven’t seen this man\, this entertainer\, in live concert for four decades\, and we want to. We never stopped wanting to. So\, we all went. And the voice is still there. The voice is still powerful\, still full of emotion\, texture\, color\, and technique. Not one moment of the “The Magic of a Midnight Sky” should be changed.
