SUMMARY:Seascape
DESCRIPTION:Edward Albee’s Seascape Brings Provocative Theater to Oradell This January \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBergen County theatergoers have a rare opportunity to experience the Pulitzer Prize-winning work of Edward Albee as the Bergen County Players present Seascape at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell\, New Jersey. Running for a brief but compelling engagement from January 10 through January 18\, 2026\, this production promises to immerse audiences in a thought-provoking blend of humor\, philosophical reflection\, and theatrical innovation. \n\n\n\nThe remaining performances as of Friday\, January 16\, include Friday evening at 8:00 PM\, accompanied by a special Q&A session with the Executive Director of the Edward F. Albee Foundation\, as well as shows on Saturday\, January 17 at 8:00 PM and Sunday\, January 18 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available through the Bergen County Players’ online portal\, providing easy access for those eager to secure seats for this intimate and intellectually stimulating production. \n\n\n\nAlbee’s Seascape explores the human experience through an inventive lens\, fusing absurdist comedy with poignant existential reflection. The story follows Nancy and Charlie\, a middle-aged couple who have recently retired and are enjoying a quiet afternoon on an empty beach. Their mundane conversation about the routines and uncertainties of life is interrupted in a startlingly imaginative turn when two human-sized\, articulate lizards emerge from the ocean. What begins as a surreal encounter quickly evolves into a meditation on communication\, evolution\, and the search for meaning\, as the human and lizard “couples” attempt to bridge the gap between their vastly different perspectives. \n\n\n\nThe production at the Little Firehouse Theatre emphasizes the subtle interplay between dialogue\, timing\, and character nuance. The intimate setting of the venue enhances audience engagement\, allowing every expression\, pause\, and line to resonate more deeply than in a larger performance space. The cast brings Albee’s intricate characters to life with precision\, capturing the delicate balance of humor\, discomfort\, and philosophical inquiry that defines the play. \n\n\n\nAudiences attending this run will not only witness a landmark work of American theater but also have the chance to engage with the broader cultural context surrounding Albee’s legacy. The Friday Q&A session provides unique insight into the playwright’s intentions\, the nuances of absurdist theater\, and the enduring relevance of themes such as human connection and societal evolution. \n\n\n\nFor those who enjoy combining theatrical experiences with other cultural outings\, Oradell and the surrounding Bergen County area offer a variety of attractions that complement a night at the theater\, from local dining to interactive workshops in the arts. Visitors may also explore other offerings in the region’s thriving theatre scene\, connecting live performance with a broader appreciation of creativity and storytelling in New Jersey. \n\n\n\nSeascape is an essential experience for theater enthusiasts\, students of drama\, and anyone intrigued by Albee’s distinctive voice and the challenges of understanding the world from multiple viewpoints. Whether attending for the intellectual richness\, the humor\, or the rare opportunity to see a Pulitzer Prize-winning play performed locally\, this Bergen County Players production offers a memorable and impactful evening that highlights the enduring power of live theater. \n\n\n\nThe Little Firehouse Theatre is located at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell\, NJ 07649. Attendees are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance due to limited seating for this limited engagement of Albee’s celebrated work.

SUMMARY:Randall Goosby
DESCRIPTION:Randall Goosby Brings His Acclaimed Sound Back to New Jersey Symphony in Winter Concert Highlight \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA rising star with a rapidly growing national reputation is returning to the Garden State this winter\, as the New Jersey Symphony welcomes violin sensation Randall Goosby for a highly anticipated evening of Romantic and American masterworks. The performance is set for Thursday\, January 8 at 7 p.m.\, promising an immersive orchestral experience led by Music Director Xian Zhang. \n\n\n\nGoosby’s return follows his widely praised New Jersey appearances in recent seasons\, where audiences connected deeply with his expressive style and refined technique. His playing has been described by leading critics as both emotionally resonant and technically fearless\, qualities that have quickly elevated him into the conversation among today’s most compelling young soloists. For New Jersey listeners\, his reappearance offers another opportunity to experience a performer whose interpretations blend youthful intensity with remarkable musical maturity. \n\n\n\nThe program has been thoughtfully curated to showcase both European Romantic traditions and a cornerstone of American orchestral literature. At its emotional center is Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto\, a work celebrated for its lyrical beauty\, soaring melodic lines\, and introspective character. Under the baton of Xian Zhang\, the New Jersey Symphony is expected to bring out the full expressive range of these works\, from hushed\, reflective moments to grand\, full-orchestra climaxes that fill the hall with sound. \n\n\n\nBeyond the music itself\, the evening reflects the Symphony’s ongoing commitment to presenting world-class talent while celebrating the diversity of orchestral traditions. Goosby’s appearance continues a growing legacy of spotlighting artists who are shaping the future of classical performance while honoring its historic foundations. \n\n\n\nConcertgoers will also find special ticket pricing available\, making the evening accessible to a wider audience eager to experience live symphonic music at a premium level. The offer includes best-available seating at a reduced rate\, allowing both longtime patrons and new listeners to take part in one of the season’s standout events. \n\n\n\nThose looking to explore additional concerts\, artist spotlights\, and classical performances across the Garden State can find ongoing coverage and updates through Explore New Jersey’s music section\, which highlights the state’s vibrant and evolving cultural scene. \n\n\n\nWith a program built around emotional depth\, technical brilliance\, and thoughtful musical storytelling\, the New Jersey Symphony’s upcoming performance featuring Randall Goosby stands as one of the winter’s most compelling nights for classical music lovers.

SUMMARY:Joe Matarese
DESCRIPTION:Joe Matarese Brings Holiday Humor Home\, Aiming to Create a New New Jersey Tradition \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor comedian Joe Matarese\, returning to New Jersey in late December is more than just another date on the calendar. His December 27 performance at the Scottish Rite is a homecoming of sorts\, one he hopes will grow into an annual holiday tradition rooted in familiarity\, laughter\, and a distinctly local point of view. \n\n\n\nMatarese’s comedy has long drawn from the rhythms of everyday life in New Jersey\, where family dynamics\, neighborhood quirks\, and generational habits provide an endless supply of material. Performing during the holidays only amplifies that connection. It is a time when people are already swapping stories\, revisiting old routines\, and laughing about shared experiences\, all elements that align naturally with his observational style. \n\n\n\nThose local ties have been central to Matarese’s career from the start. He began performing stand-up at a time when open mics and word-of-mouth still defined the early climb. Night after night\, he refined his voice in clubs and small venues\, learning how to read rooms\, sharpen timing\, and develop the kind of material that resonates beyond punchlines. The process was slow\, deliberate\, and built on repetition rather than instant visibility. \n\n\n\nToday\, the landscape looks very different. Social media has become both a megaphone and a proving ground for comedians\, offering unprecedented access to audiences while demanding constant output and adaptability. Matarese has embraced the shift\, using online platforms to share clips\, test ideas\, and stay connected with fans\, but he remains clear about where comedy truly lives. The stage\, he says\, is where material earns its stripes\, where jokes either land or fall flat in real time. \n\n\n\nThat balance between digital reach and live performance has shaped how Matarese approaches building an audience. Online exposure may open the door\, but consistency and authenticity keep people coming back. His ability to speak to shared experiences\, particularly those familiar to New Jersey crowds\, has helped him cultivate a loyal following that spans generations. \n\n\n\nThe Scottish Rite show reflects that philosophy. Rather than chasing spectacle\, Matarese focuses on creating an environment that feels comfortable and communal\, where the humor flows naturally from recognition. By anchoring the show during the holiday season\, he hopes to give audiences something to look forward to each year\, a chance to step away from the stress of December and laugh at the absurdities that come with it. \n\n\n\nFor New Jersey’s thriving live entertainment scene\, performances like this reinforce the importance of local venues and artists who understand their audiences. Stand-up comedy\, at its best\, thrives on connection\, and Matarese’s approach embodies that principle. His December return is not just a performance but an invitation to make laughter part of the holiday routine. \n\n\n\nAs live comedy continues to evolve\, New Jersey remains a fertile ground for voices that reflect its character\, humor\, and shared experiences. For those looking to explore more performances and artists shaping the scene\, Explore New Jersey’s stand-up comedy coverage offers a window into the talent bringing laughter to stages across the state.

SUMMARY:Darlene Love - Love For The Holidays
DESCRIPTION:Rolling Stone Magazine has proclaimed Darlene Love to be “one of the greatest singers of all time” and that certainly rings true\, but perhaps Paul Shaffer says it even more concisely: “Darlene Love is Rock N’ Roll!” – which was made official when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Bette Midler\, a great fan of her work\, in 2011. During the celebration\, the two ladies enjoyed performing “He’s A Rebel” together and as part of the festivities\, Darlene also sang “He’s A Fine\, Fine Boy” backed by another distinguished fan\, Bruce Springsteen. At the Academy Awards\, Darlene sang her powerful acceptance speech on behalf of all of the performers in the winning film “Twenty Feet From Stardom.” As she raised the Oscar\, the entire house stood with a cheering ovation\, led by the wildly applauding Bill Murray. It was another special moment in a great career. A Grammy award soon followed for the soundtrack of the film.  Her Billboard hits include: He’s A Rebel\, The Boy I’m Gonna Marry\, Wait ‘Til My Bobby Gets Home\, He’s Sure the Boy I Love and the #1 holiday classic Christmas Baby (Please Come Home)\, a song that she performed annually with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Symphony Orchestra on The Late Show With David Letterman for some 29 years until Letterman retired.  To continue this long-standing tradition\, Darlene performs a number of special Christmas shows every year and continues to enchant her fans with the Christmas spirit.
