Skilla Baby, a Detroit-based rapper and protégé of Sada Baby, has established himself as a formidable force in the city’s hip-hop scene. He first began exploring music as a teenager, but it wasn’t until 2019 that his career really took off. That year, he released his debut album and a series of popular singles, including the socially-conscious track ‘Trevon’.
Skilla Baby’s talent quickly caught the attention of fans and industry insiders alike, and his music videos have racked up millions of views on YouTube. His first visual offering, for the single “Mystical,” was released in September 2019 and has already surpassed the one million mark.
Known for his signature style of rap, which often includes energetic and bold lyrics, Skilla Baby frequently collaborates with other prominent Michigan rappers, such as Sada Baby, Rio Da Yung OG, and RMC Mike.
New Orleans rapper Rob49‘s songs offer vivid depictions of street hustling and intense imagery drawn straight from his own experiences coming up, from struggles to success. He started rapping in 2020 but quickly produced a body of work that included frequently released mixtapes and the 2023 studio effort 4GOD II.
Rob49 was born in New Orleans in 1999 and grew up in the housing projects that intersected the city’s fourth and ninth wards, hence the “49” in his stage name. He rapped casually throughout high school, but it wasn’t until 2020 that he would record any music. After jumping on a beat during a friend’s recording session, it became clear that Rob had talent, and he was doing his own sessions days later. Things happened quickly from there, with tracks amassing and eventually being released on projects like 2020 mixtapes Krazy Man, Vulture, and 4our the World. 2021’s 4GOD followed, and in 2022, Rob49 released his most ambitious project to date with the studio album Welcome to Vulture Island. The set featured a host of big-name guest appearances, including contributions from Lil Baby, Birdman, Doe Boy, and Babyface Ray. 4GOD II, his 2023 project, featured DaBaby, Trippie Redd, Icewear Vezzo, and more.
