A college football player from Morris County is one of two men facing charges in the rape of a woman during a house party last year in Pennsylvania.
Daunte White, of Wharton, a linebacker for the Saint Francis University Red Flash, was charged Tuesday with participating in the assault that allegedly occurred in February 2022, according to court documents.
White, 20, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse forcible compulsion, unlawful restraint with serious bodily injury and conspiracy, court records show.
Marcel Mami, of Frederick, Maryland, is charged with rape, unlawful restraint with serious bodily injury and conspiracy, court records show.
Mami, 20, is also a linebacker for the Saint Francis University Red Flash, according to the college website.
The men are accused of leading an intoxicated woman to the basement of a home on St. Mary Street in Loretto Borough, where the attack allegedly occurred, according to NBC affiliate WJAC, which obtained the affidavit of probable cause.
New Jersey 101.5 reported Loretto Borough police received a fax about the incident on July 27. A detective spoke to the victim on Aug. 2 and police launched a months-long investigation before the arrests were made, according to the news website.
White was released on a $75,000 bail pending a Feb. 8 hearing, according to court records. Mami was unable to post bail and was held in the Cambria County Jail, according to court records.
Online court documents available on Saturday did not list attorneys for the two men.
